Customer Rating: Summary: Outdated, some useful fundamentals Comment: While the book contains tried-and-true tactics that will always work, it is outdated and not thorough enough. No mention, for example, on dropshot, splitshot, or swimbait techniques. Very brief mention of casting techniques, and nothing about pitching. All of the B&W photos look like the fishermen were going to a screening of "Saturday Night Fever" once they got off the lake. The book was "updated" by Mark Hicks, who never hesitates to include photos and stories of himself, a no-no in the unwritten rules of authors. I should have spent my money on Roland Martin's or Van Dam's books.
Customer Rating: Summary: A well writen book for the first time bass fisherman. Comment: First the book brings you into a deep introduction about the Largemouth Bass. It then goes on to explaining how to locate the fish, and how their eyes work. Then you are brought through an intense description and explanation about the lures used to catch the bass, and also tells how to use these tools of the sport. You are then introduced to bass tackle, bass boats, and other accessories to go along with it. The book finishes with descriptions of the different regions of the United States and how the bass fishing is there.
Customer Rating: Summary: A little out of date on tackle, but overall very worthwhile Comment: This book covers the basics to gain a quick understanding of the fundelmentals that every beginning bass fisherman should know. It covers a broad range of topics and makes good use of photos to allow the reader to gain better insight to the techniques that are critical
