Theres no denying that Tiger Woods has taken golf by storm. It seems like every time this 25-year-old swings a club, another PGA record is shattered. While his explosive drives, accurate approach shots, and steady putter certainly contribute to this success, both fans and critics agree that its Tigers devastating mental game that has propelled him to become the premier golfer of our time. Now Tiger shares his thoughts on what he calls the game of a lifetime. He reveals the five secrets he believes are responsible for his successa combination of physical, metaphysical, and psychological practices he uses daily to keep his game in top shape and help him to transcend all the ups and downs of golf. Best of all, Tiger reveals his unique approach to the game for the first time ever in this one singular volume. Tiger Woods became the youngest player ever to complete the career Grand Slam of professional major championships and only the fifth ever to do so, following the likes of Jack Nicklaus. He was also the youngest Masters champion ever, at the age of 21, and has since won 29 tournaments, including the 1999 and 2000 PGA Championships, the 2000 U.S. Open Championship, and the 2000 British Championship. He is the career victories leader among active players on the PGA tour. How I Play Golf will be lavishly illustrated with colour photos throughout, special design features, and easy-to-follow diagrams that will clarify and complement Tigers instructions. Its certain to be the #1 gift book of the year. First serial in Golf Digest.

Customer Rating: Summary: Grand Slam of a Book Comment: Just as Tiger Woods is the real deal as a golfer and as a human, so is his book "How I Play Golf."
I bought this book when it first came out. Seven years later, it continues to be a reference I use over and over.
This book is well written, well organized, and is printed on high quality glossy stock. Everything about it is top notch, reflecting the excellence you expect from Tiger Woods.
Hands down, with few exceptions, I'd put Tiger and his book up against the teaching-pro trinket books of the day that are spewed out of the printing presses on almost a daily basis.
Customer Rating: Summary: Tiger...How I Play Golf Comment: Will be using the principles in this book for many years to come. Was easy to follow, and very well written and pictures were realistic to the topic.
Customer Rating: Summary: Mind Preparation Comment: Certainly, his physical abilities have been perfected but you can see how this extreme professional has prepared his thoughts to become a peak performer surpassing the great golfers of the past. Darren A. Lossia
Customer Rating: Summary: Best golf book! Comment: This book is actually used by many instructors - it gives detailed written and photo examples of instructions from the master.
Customer Rating: Summary: The Photographs tell Half the Story Comment: Tiger Woods' book, How I Play Golf, is a thorough self-examination of his game, from green to tee (sic) and everything in between. Filled with fantastic photographs that do half the battle of ingraining the image of good technique into your mind, the book examines each element of the game and the swing, as Tiger plays it. He caveats at the beginning that his goal is not to tell us how to play, but rather to tell us how he plays and what works for him.
The book is also filled with lots of fun anecdotes which, now that it's 2008, are practically historical given that 2005 hadn't even started at the time the book was published.
It's definitely a practical book, filled with tips and advice to try and implement into your own game. Tiger starts with putting and moves back to the full swing with the driver, visiting chips, flops, high-irons and fairway woods along the way. He also talks extensively about the mental game and the importance of fitness.
The only thing that I felt was missing was a comprehensive section on practice. While Tiger talks throughout the book about elements of practice there's no one place where he provides a simple outline of how he approaches practice or how we should approach practice. Granted it's different for someone who rolls out of bed every morning and hits 300 balls on the driving range in his backyard but amateurs like us could probably use some advice on effective practice technique.
A great book that I've read once cover to cover and have already re-read a number of sections numerous times.
Enjoy.
