Comment: all i can say is that when i went back to my local bestbuy and noticed that they removed this terrible product from the shelves, i almost cried in joy. When i brought the product back to the store to return it, they took it back no questions asked, because they knew this product sucks. Customer Rating: Summary: This is the worst product I have ever puchased in my life! Comment: After having this for over a year I have yet to use it. It will not install properly. It does not detect the hardware. After waiting 3 months to get an answer from tech support (calling is a joke in itself) all tech support gave me was the troubleshooting steps listed on their website that I had already done hundreds of time. They then told me there were conflicts with AMD chips so I waited to get a new PC... well here I am with a brand new PC that far exceeds the requirements for the product along with having a pentium chip and I am still having the same problems. It will not detect the hardware, the PC detects it, the software does not. What a waste of [money]!!!! Customer Rating: Summary: Don't know about the bad reviews but . . . Comment: I purchased this product last weekend and love it so much, I'm buying a second copy later this week! I teach college and my summer project is to put all my lectures on Powerpoint. I hate learning new software and don't have the time for a drawn out learning curve. It took me minutes to set this up, and another hour or so to discover that this actually does almost everything I need (a phone call this afternoon to the tech help desk which kept me on hold for less than five minutes--a resonable wait in my opinion--explained that I couldn't do what I asked about. But I can do everything I need as far as audio goes, I can record decent video via VCR, and the television image I can monitor with software on my 'puter screen is actually clearer than on my television monitor (albeit much smaller). So I'm happy enough to try another copy (for work). I suppose in another year or so something better will come out, but for the casual video-editor who doesn't want to pour over tech specs, this is great! Customer Rating: Summary: If you think AOL is GREAT, don't buy a Dazzle. Comment: Ignore all the unfavorable reviews of the Dazzle DM4100, unless you like AOL or would recommend AOL to a friend. I tend to be a tough critic when it comes to inferior technology, but the Dazzle TRULY IMPRESSED ME!!! 15 minutes to install on an AMD K6-450 notebook, default settings, smooth 30fps better-than-VHS capture, and a reasonable price. Yes, the video out works well too, naysayers! OK, I had to figure out a couple of software issues as I experimented with options, but if you can't deal with software quirks, you shouldn't own a PC !! ....but if you do, you probably think "AOL is #1" means AOL is the best. No, it just means an unrelenting high-budget sales campaign can easily brainwash the cranially-challenged. The rest of us just ignore the ads, and enjoy using quality products like the Dazzle 4100, without opening the manual, or whining to/about tech support. Customer Rating: Summary: Indifference to Windows 2000 Comment: I'd second the opinion experessed already by Steve Britton regarding his experience on Windows 2000. I also bought this first and got it to work with W98 but then on Windows 2000, it was very problematic. Customer service promised that they will have drivers ready by the end of 2000. It never happened, I put it on the shelf and then suddenly needed again these days. I went to their website and there is nothing new, no mention of drivers for Windows 2000. I emailed their customer support and it seems that it had fallen on deaf ears.
I have finally given up as I am writing this review and will consider a new product (certainly not from Dazzle).
I am actively recommending against the use of Dazzle products to anyone I know; simply because of their indifference.
