Customer Rating: Summary: The best for me - not for everyone though Comment: I have used this mouse (model) for about 4 or 5 years. Absolutely love it always dependable. When on Ubuntu, the task bar even shows the amount of battery power left in the one double-a. Whether wired or wireless (I have had both), this is so comfortable. You only move your thumb to use it. For me, trackball is the way to go - you can just sit it on the arm of your couch or on your stomach when using a laptop.
However, it takes a little patience to get used to this type of mouse. I recommended it to someone at work and he didn't like it. So he gave the mouse to me (bonus - extra one for me!)
Customer Rating: Summary: Great product, great customer service. Comment: Product was everything I expected it to be. I had always used the trackman wheel with the cord, and they would always short out eventually. Usually around a years time, this was likely due to how much I move the trackball, but with the wireless, I don't have to worry about that.
Customer service was excellent, got to me quick and in brand new condition.
Customer Rating: Summary: Just like the regular Trackman Comment: I have used the Trackman Wheel mouse for years because I like being able to hold the mouse in my lap and work in order to avoid carpal tunnel. I have gone through probably 3 of these over the years. This is my first cordless and it fits my hands just like the regular TrackMan, but is even easier to use due to being cordless. I have the base unit sitting several feet away due to space constrictions on my desk and I have never lost my signal. I love it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice product. Comment: This is a nice reliable mouse. Takes a little time to get used to it, but after a couple of days it is easy. Great product for my small, cluttered desk.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great If You Prefer Using Your Thumb On The Trackball Comment: At my house I have two wireless trackballs, both Logitech. I personally find the Kennsington trackballs to be very difficult to use by comparison (though I frequently have to do so at other studios).
This is my second Logitech Cordless TrackMan Wheel as the last one had the USB receiver break after several years of use (though the trackball side of it still works when hooked up to the new receiver). The receivers generally work quite well but if you find the cursor isn't tracking smoothly, try experimenting with receiver placement.
So I guess the question is: why did I get a second one? Simple: the ergonomics are great and unlike my other Logitech trackball, the Logitech Cordless Optical Trackman, this one lets me move the trackball with my thumb while I use my other fingers to push buttons. I try to alternate between the two trackballs periodically to decrease long-term RSI risk, but that may be overkill for a lot of people.
This trackball works as advertised, is easy to use (even if you don't install the included software) and works great whether used with USB or the included PS2 adapter. The battery lasts a long time, whether you use a standard alkaline AA or a rechargeable one. The first trackball I'd recommend for wireless users. When my old one broke, I waited for a new one to arrive online rather than get the Kennsington models they had at my local Best Buy: that's how much easier it is for me to use.
