The Belkin IEEE 1394 FireWire Compatible 4pin/4pin Cable attaches a device with a four-pin port, such as a digital camcorder, to your laptop or audio video device's four-pin port at a rate of up to 400 Mbps. The cable is compatible with all Apple FireWire and Sony i.LINK devices, and has Plug and Play installation. It complies with IEEE 1394 standards for reducing radio frequency and electromagnetic interference, uses molded-strain relief and PVC overmolding to enable error-free transmissions, and has twisted-pair construction for the fastest transfer rates. Summary: the right connection
Comment: This 4-pin to 4-pin firewire cable was exactly the cable I needed to connect my 10+ year old digital camcorder to a computer. I had not used my camera in a while, and none of the cables I had seemed to work with any of the computers I now own; the local electronics stores did not carry anything that would work; but my laptop had a 4-pin firewire port, and so did my camera, and I was able to find this cable on Amazon. It does the job perfectly.

Summary: Works great... for the first week or so.
Comment: This cable is not durable. We ordered three of them for the college where I work. The first one worked great the first two weeks, but now the cable won't stay tight, the connection is intermittent at best. The second won't carry a signal at all. I'm going to make use of the lifetime warranty.

Comment: This item was exactly as described and works just like it is designed to. It's only 3' which limits how far away from the computer you can sit the video camera. But this length was perfect for me, that's why I went with this size. The transfer is is great and easy, my computer detected it immediately and gave me options for transferring. The quality was great too. I highly recommend this FireWire!!! Good luck and have fun!
