Editorial Reviews:

With increased data bandwidth, true Plug and Play compatibility and hot swappability, USB has become the new standard in low-mid speed peripheral communication. With this in mind, IOGEAR developed the new MiniView KVM switches with USB. Four USB devices and a monitor can be shared among two or four computers, using the GCS102U and GCS104U respectively. Use the MiniView with a USB keyboard, USB mouse and two other USB devices - any USB devices. If four devices aren't enough, connect a USB hub to increase the number of shared ports. Users with PS/2 mice and keyboards will love the USB-PS/2 adapter, which frees up a shared USB port while providing PS/2 compatibility. With IOGEAR's USB MiniView, peripheral sharing has never been easier.

Summary: IOGear mini KVM switch
Comment: I got this to replace a Belkin flip KVM that showed promise but failed after about a week. It was easy to hook up and in a matter of minutes, both of my macs were up and running and with no problems. For the price, it's a great addition seeing as how I use both my G4 and G5 for different applications and most of my drive space on my G4 is for server use. I recommend this to anyone who needs a good but inexpensive KVM switch for their computers. Others seem to have issues with lag time when switching between machines, but I have no problem with that, the switch is almost immediate.

Summary: Great product!
Comment: Product worked flawlessly right out of the box. No emulation is great because like this I can use my Logitech keyboard and mouse combo. They use only 1 RF switch for both and the last KVM switch I purchased from Netgear didn't work. Only gripe is that it doesn't have an audio port, but it's not really a big deal. Other than that, I highly recommend the product.

Summary: A very useful product
Comment: . I purchased a new Windows Vista PC, and have 2 older PCs, an old Win98 and a 3year old Windows XP. The Vista is my main unit, but the others work fine with programs and games that work best on the computers they are on. I purchased a computer cart that let me mount both older towers and the monitor and peripherals off my XP. This switch comes with the cables you need along with the cables of your monitor, keyboard and mouse. Everything works and I am able to switch back and forth with only a seconds wait in between, You need two sets of speakers but thats minor. With a wireless network I have the newer PCs online and a dedicated old game box with very little extra hardware.

Summary: Perfect
Comment: I did a lot of research for solutions to switch between my PC and Mac Mini and this seemed to come highly recommended. I was sharing a monitor and wireless mouse.

Set up couldn't be easier, it comes with necessary cables and does exactly what it's supposed to. One push of a button and it flicks between computers in about a second.

I don't really understand the issue described by "An electronics fan" other than to say that perhaps it relates to either or both PCs being on some form of standby rather than the operation of the device itself. Works perfectly for me.

A great cost effective solution to device sharing.

Summary: Iogear 2 Port USB KVM Switch
Comment: I do like the Iogear KVM switch as it is an upgrade from the simpler switch I had before. The original only controlled the keyboard, mouse, and monitor. The new one controls those three, plus all USBs I have hooked up to it, from one computer to the other, including the printer.
The only three "setbacks" I have had with this switch is that it has to sit on my desktop because you have to press a button on the switch to change from one computer to the other. I would prefer the hot key (scroll lock) switch on my keyboard like my older model had. Second, the printer will stop printing if you switch computers while the printing job is still happening. I would like to see some type of a continuation set up that would allow the printer to finish the current job. Third, the USB ports are not 2.0 and therefore a little slow to recognize the switch. There is a unit that has all 2.0, but is 2 or 3 times more expesnive than this model. The cost difference is not worth it for a few seconds of lag time on the switch.
