Summary: Nadesico, Vol. 9 - Heavenly Bodies
Comment: In this episode of Martian Successor Nadesico the crew gets a little crazy. There is a little down time in the war and the crew passes the time by organizing a beauty contest (get it... Heavenly Bodies). Throw in a dash of underhanded schemes by Nergal's top brass and you've got a pretty fun episode with a good deal of character development, you'll get to see the softer side of some of your favorite characters. Plus, if you can pick up on it, some foreshadowing for character twists to come. After this low the Nadesico finds itself in a battle face to face with a new Jovian weapon and all out of options. The Captain reveals a little of her commanding genius hidden behind her ditzy personality, which makes for a pretty good battle. This volume is pretty good, it takes you one step closer to knowing the characters and has a little fun doing it. Very funny as always, but most importantly it sets up the next volume very well. Get ready for twists, turns, and fantastic revelations... in the next volume. If you've come this far in the Nadesico series there is no reason to stop it only gets better.
