Comment: Dean Martin was always eager to be a Pop Star, have radio hits, and be beloved. He sang with a Bing Crosby croon, a European angst, and a grin a wink that others still try to emulate. Elvis Presley, the so-called rebel, took Dean's deep throated swing to tenor and lows and made his ballads a fine copy..just listen to Elvis's early attempts. Pure Dean.
This is a compendium of Dean's Italian songs. Dean always sounded comfortable with the dramatic lyrics of an Italian love song, even more than contempory compadre Frank. + Dean had humor that others couldn't match. Frank Sinatra may have been the consummate saloon singer, but Dean was the best at making people at ease.
