Summary: great idea, but outdated technology
Comment: Bought this for the aged parents thinking it would be a nice alternative for the pricey PC system they are constantly having problems with. BIG MISTAKE. Set up was simple, instructions were very clear. However, MSN-TV uses a three or four year old version of Explorer. In addition to outdated software, there is no memory. So, many websites will not load. The new funtionalities on many sites will not run. All the MSN-TV is good for is e-mail. If that's all you need, then this might fit the bill. For any other purposes, look elsewhere. As for the speed - well, let's just say that the aged parents are retired, but even they don't have THAT much time to waste. All in all, a great idea which needs a lot more work. Wait for the X-Box or Sony Playstation with web browing/e-mail capabilities. At least then, the grandkids can also use it while visiting.

Summary: Across the digital divide
Comment: An early promise of the Internet was to level the playing field between the "big guys," and the "small guys." To a certain extent this promise has been fulfilled for content providers and those who wish to sell things on the Internet who could justify an investment of [$$$]or more for a PC...MSN's Web TV is easy to use and contains features such as picture in picture so we can sit on the couch and surf the web while we watch our favorite shows. When a commercial or show mentions that there is more information on an item or topic we simply enter the URL and we can see the complete offer or rest of the story. Also included is a smart card reader that will enable you to use Debit and Credit Cards along with others... Refillable debit cards are the wave of the future and MSN has provided a slot with which to use them built right in to the set-top box. While the service prices start at [$$$] that is not for unlimited use. There are other companies that offer unlimited use for around [$$$]and in my opinion MSN would be greatly served by lowering the monthly fee for unlimited use on web tv to somewhere around the [$$$] mark. Don't think that the MSN TV box is only for beginners. I use mine as a secondary internet access when | want to surf and watch TV and also when guests come over and need to check their web based mail acconts I let them use it. Likewise for beginners who may outgrow the MSN TV box and decide to move up to a full fledged computer, they too can use the MSN TV as a secondary access after they purchase their new computer. If you purchase one you owe your family and friends who do not yet have access to the Internet a demonstration...

Comment: We had a Mitsubishi receiver before that finally gave out and replaced it with this model and its great!!! Works and looks ever so good on my 40" Mitsubishi Tv!, and what a great price!!
