The Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio was a true revolution in the classical world in the US when it was firs released on LP in 1976 . Firstly because Claude Bolling had the idea of mixing the greatest musical movement of the 20th century - jazz - with classical music. America's appreciation of this cross-breeding raised the Suite to head the hit-parade for two years and to be ranked in the Billboard for 10 years (530 weeks). Through this work, Claude Bolling can be considered as the creator of 'crossover music'. His musical partner, Jean-Pierre Rampal, is now esteemed as the great classical flautist of the 20th century.

Customer Rating: Summary: Very nice suite Comment: This was my wife's senior recital for flute, so this music is special to me. A fine CD that I thoroughly enjoy.
Customer Rating: Summary: One of my favorites Comment: I first met this Record when a Flutist searching for many pianists in other to play this suite, it was more than 10 years ago maybe. We became friends, and, in fact, never presented the play but had really god time enjoying the pieces. Don't think that I'm a consumate pianist... but enough to really admire Bolling and Rampal. Just bought the CD a three years ago searching in a FNAC. Really excited when listen again the Suite after many years.
Customer Rating: Summary: Bolling CD Comment: This is one of my all-time favorite albums; but my LP was so old, it had skips and was warped. I was very pleased to find it on CD as I'd checked the area record stores (including Virgin Records; thought for sure they'd have it!) & could not find it.
Customer Rating: Summary: A Masterful Mixed-Genre Marriage Comment: While digging through some of my old cassettes today for something I hadn't heard in a while, I uncovered Bolling: Suite For Flute and Jazz Piano Trio. I bought it on a whim back when it was first released and I vaguely remembered liking it, so I thought why not play this? Well, after listening I was very sorry that I had forgotten how good it is!
Though the album is far too short, jazz pianist Claude Bolling and flautist Jean-Pierre Rampal make this suite a sweet one indeed. Though I have my favorites, there is not a single cut that is not worth hearing over and over. You might say that Bolling and Rampal have entered a masterful mixed-genre marriage. My favorite cuts are Sentimentale, Javanaise, Versatile, and Veloce.
As another reviewer said, this recording is the perfect one to pop in on any day you need your spirits lifted. Even if you are already in a great mood, hearing this will prolong it for you. Now that I've become reacquainted with this Suite and see that it is now remastered and available on CD, I will order it in that format. And you can be sure I won't forget it again.
Customer Rating: Summary: Classic Must Have Jazz Comment: I first bought this 25 years ago and have never grown tired of it.
