Summary: On of the best gadgets in my kitchen
Comment: I was on the phone to my sister while spinning up a salad and she asked about the sound coming over the phone to her. While describing this item (which I have had for about 5 years) I realized how much I liked it and thought I would put in my 2 cents on Amazon ... which is where I directed her to see it on line).

I have both sizes and use the larger one for the bulky leafy salad and the smaller one for veggies that typically go on top of a salad (i.e. grape tomato, snow peas, baby carrots, broccoli florets, etc.

Using both sizes I can (ahem) spin up an impressive salad very quickly. And once done the bowl and lid make a perfect means of storing the food ... cold crisp and just moist enough to keep for days.

As the line states it is one of the best gadgets in my kitchen ... I wish I had invented it. It is an outstanding product and a WOW gift for the holidays ... darn I wish I had thought of that sooner too ... (tomorrow is Christmas ...)
Happy Holidays !!!

Summary: Follow in the footsteps of Gandhi
Comment: It is not hard to live with a soggy sandwich or a drippy salad now and then; such is the nature of life.

However if you have home spun yarn it can take a day or two to dry. You can get a head start using the spinner. If you are not ecologically conscious and try the clothes drier you will inevitably end up felting your day's work.

I am not innovative the suggestion came from a book "Teach Yourself Visually Handspinning" by Judith MacKenzie McCuin.

Summary: Works well for price
Comment: The salad spinner is pretty decent. It has a locking mechanism that keeps the push lever down for storage (as you see in the Amazon picture), a removable inner basket that you can use as a colander to rinse first and a bowl that catches the water. The bowl can also be rinsed out and used to serve the salad in. Easy to wash, I just pop it in the dishwasher on the top and it's turned out fine. It also has a brake to stop the spinning when necessary. Overall a pretty good spinner. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 is that it seems a littly bit flimsy and is slightly bulky.

Summary: SoftWorks Salad Spinner - Nice Product
Comment: The SoftWorks Salad Spinner is a nice product that works as advertised. The size is large enough to wash a full chopped head of romaine lettuce. The product seems identical to me to the OXO salad spinner I have seen in stores with a solid white top, and they may in fact be the same product. The Oxo Good Grips Salad Spinner appears to be the same as well, except for product pictures showing a clear top.

I have used this product for more than a year and I'm very happy with it.

The large button in the center is spring loaded and when you press it, will rise. After putting your salad into the strainer basket inside, close the top and depress the large button. The basket will spin and the water will come out of the salad into the clear bowl. Use the small button on the side to slow down the spinning basket before opening. It's that simple.

I find that rinsing my salad and greens several times between spinnings seems to get them the cleanest. It's always best to rinse and spin as close to serving time as possible so that your salad stays nice and crisp.

I can't help but feel that the price is rather high for such a product, but this was one of the more affordable alternatives I found. So until a less expensive alternative emerges, this looks like one of the better alternatives.

Avoid the temptation to use the clear bowl as a salad serving bowl. The insides seem to scratch rather easily and may be harder to clean when scratched.

Enjoy.

Summary: Makes short work of drying produce
Comment: I was torn between the SoftWorks and the Zyliss, but picked this one because I was afraid of possible problems with the pull string on the Zyliss. This spinner is very simple to use -- you just pop up the black "pumper" and push it down several times, then use the little "brake" button to slow it down quickly. My salad greens get dried off very well. (By the way, I read that to get that last bit of water, you can throw a paper towel in the spinner with your greens to absorb any excess, which is a great tip.)
