Customer Rating: Summary: Simple, space saving KVM Comment: I work on multiple computers and occasionally have to bring another computer into the mix for repairs. This KVM is small, well laid out and simple to use.
It has proprietary cables with one end looking like a VGA connector and the other end has three connectors: Keyboard, Video and Mouse. Because of the single head at the KVM side, it takes up less space.
You want your "default" PC - the one that is on all the time - to be connected to port 1. After that, you can use the other ports as you want to. I found that if I didn't have something up and running on port 1, port selections after that were hit-and-miss.
You can switch between screens with a keypress (ctrl ctrl 1, 2, 3 or 4)or you can use a button on the device itself.
It is simple, reliable, small, and affordable. The only possible downside is the proprietary cable.
Customer Rating: Summary: Doesn't work with common mouse USB to PS/2 adapter Comment: After reading all the positive reviews, I thought this would be a good choice for me. Unfortunately, I missed the comment that it doesn't work with USB to PS/2 adapters. I have a mouse that has worked with every other KVM switch I've ever seen, an older MS Optical mouse. It has a USB connector that goes into a PS/2 converter.
Unfortunately, it didn't work with this switch, so I had to return the item. I haven't seen a plain PS/2 mouse in awhile (but I haven't looked for one either--a quick google shows that they're still around) but I didn't want to buy a new mouse just to use with the switch.
Customer Rating: Summary: Love this - Easy to setup & the keyboard actions to control the switch are responsive Comment: I've used another switch between two computers in the past. It was a little dodgey to get set-up as I had to play with it to get the computers to recognize all that was hooked together. I also had to press a home or scroll lock button to get it to switch and it would hesitate and sometimes it wouldn't switch so I generally used the button on the switch.
NOT WITH THIS SWITCH-MAJOR IMPROVEMENT
I needed to hook 3 computers together off of one monitor, serial mouse and serial keyboard. I followed the instructions (basically hook everything together then turn on the computers) and everything worked immediately. To switch between CPU's, you tap the ctrl button twice then the number of which computer you would like to use. For me, it's 1-3. You can also push the button on the switch itself to scroll between the computers. I tried the keyboard taps today and it popped over to the new computer very quickly rather than with my old switch of hesitating and then you think you have to do it again and then it finally switches or you have to try again.
This is a top notch switch. Do note, it's for serial connections for the mouse and keyboard.
Customer Rating: Summary: Simple to install and use Comment: Very simple to install and use. It came with 4 sets of Monitor/Key/Mouse cables. Easy to use either the step switch or the hot-key switch and only takes a few seconds for the switch to take place. This product works as described and has been a great time saver. Highly recommended.
Customer Rating: Summary: 4 port kvm switch Comment: works great no problems at all. knock on wood...
i would recomend it to anyone that is looking for a low priced good working kvm switch.
