Editorial Reviews:

iMac is, quite simply, an outrageously attractive, surprisingly affordable, and extraordinarily easy-to-set-up-and-use system. It comes fully loaded, but brings along none of the hassle you might associate with the word "computer". Get ready for the excitement of swift, simple Internet access - your passport to a world of information. And the thrill of playing a game so richly detailed you actually feel like you are in another world. Then consider the fact that iMac delivers significantly more power than you would expect from a computer at such a great price.Whether you are a first-time computer user or a highly experienced one, iMac - with its powerful, state-of-the-art (and beyond) features and simplicity of setup and operation - is the ideal choice. It will let you do the things you want to do with a computer, and many things you may only have dreamt about.

Summary: Cute little machine but looks are deceiving...
Comment: I just got one very similar to this unit from ebay (Imac Indigo 350mhz/128MB ram, 6GB hard drive) surfing the web is very slow and time consuming and not compatible with a lot of PC software and webcameras. I will end up selling this as now its just gonna collect dust.) HIGHLY recommend upgrading memory that comes with it. All it is good for is jukebox as this point. Unable to update the OS (refuses to update to even version 10.1.1) unit is VERY heavy (over 35 pounds) and takes up alot of room on your desk. Only 2 USB ports (have to buy a hub if you want to hook anything else up to it. This machine will cost more to upgrade than a PC.. (parts are very $$$$) Good machine for kids, but not recommended for people that use the internet alot - next mac will be a G4. this machine is just downright SLOW. VERY noisy and slow hard drive.

Summary: Cute, but may be difficult to see.
Comment: A friend gave me his older Blueberry iMac G3 350MHz sans FireWire (DV, IEEE 1394). I decided to update the machine. Installed MacOS 10.2 with several revisions, and increased the RAM from 64MB to 320MB SDRAM (quite cheap upgrade).

It's not a bad machine if it had a VGA output, but the monitor portion is known to be less reliable every time you use it. So I decided to get rid of it this past summer, before going to college. The machine had so much potential, but design caused this particular model to fall from grace.

The machine is so cute and compact, plus it had decent sound quality, but it was lacking at the bass end, causing distortion (not intended for bass audio anyway). The hard disk was crammed so far into the machine, especially the 12v power connector - quickly became a headache.

Sadly, many school systems in our state invest in such a machine. But it was better than the Howard (custom) machines and late 90's Compaq desktops. These days it's the first generation LCD iMac that's in classrooms. But for prospective second hand buyers, go for the first generation iMac, they're built like tanks! (well at least being more reliable).
