Summary: Worst sharpner I have ever used
Comment: The unit I received was off center and sharpened the pencil only on one side so I had to turn the pencil around and around just to be able use it at all. And then it broke altogether after sharpening less then 50 pencils. Then the seller refused to replace it because it was after 30 days. Never again will I buy a Panasonic product.

Comment: This is the only pencil sharpener that has ever been acceptable, or worth the price. The others I've tried do not stand up to the performance. It may be just my misfortune but I've had to buy a replacement every year. There is no substitute in my opinion though.

Summary: Does What a Pencil Sharpener Should Do
Comment: This pencil sharpener does exactly what an electric pencil sharpener should do-it makes a very sharp, tapered point consistently, and speedily, with fairly low noise. The automatic stop is a good feature but you can save some unnecessary waste of pencil by watching when the RED LIGHT comes ON, at that point you can withdraw the perfectly sharpened pencil. The vertical design is a real space saver and you won't find your yourself having to hold onto the body when sharpening as you often have to with a conventional horizontal unit. The body design is sleek and the black color goes well with any decor. The only drawback is that the receptacle for collection of the shavings is of small volume and its dark grey tint makes it difficult to see how much is accumulating unless you have a direct light source shining from the front. Overall, I highly recommend it.
