Summary: I really cannot say better of this Magazine...
Comment: ...than the other reviewers have already indicated, and I'm a man! I am fortunate that I am able to sneak a read of my partner's copy, it is far superior to other magazines she used to read. The depth, insight and research of the articles is phenomenal and the topics so varied it is impossible to do them justice in a review, suffice to say there is something of immense importance to learn in every edition. There is standard fayre for a Woman's mag too, but even these topics are covered respectfully and with insight and intelligence.
In all this seems to have breached the gulf between girly teen style mags, sex obsessed cosmo style mags and woman of an ageing age type mags. To me this mag is now forever connected to a women of above average intelligence and I can't help feel a respectful glow whenever I see a woman reading a copy.
American fans should not be put off by buying guides being in sterling, most of the stores are listed at the rear and have websites these days, also they are the kind of stores likely to offer currency conversion, postal rates and even the option of shopping with US dollars or Euros. All I need now is world that doesn't assume Men like me are freaks because we enjoy a Woman's magazine, I mean is it really such a big deal? This stuff is GOOD and that's the whole point!

Summary: Marie Claire UK Edition
Comment: I started reading this in the late 1990's when it was available for sale at the local .... bookstore. It is the most interesting magazine I have read, and covers issues that the US version (and other US magazines) don't cover. I just love it! I also like the extensive beauty news it provides. After the US version came out, the UK version was no longer available at American stores. I decided to subscribe, and although the subscription price was high, I got to enjoy this magazine again for a while. Then suddenly, my subscription was cut off. I have not been able to read it since. Now I'm thinking of subscribing through Amazon.com Still expensive to get it here from England, but I get so much pleasure from reading this magazine.

Summary: If you like U.S. Marie Claire, you'll love U.K. Marie Claire
Comment: So you say you love Marie Claire because it covers a wide array of topics, from the socially aware to the downright fluffy -- and all in an intelligent and respectful (or notably non-Cosmoesque) manner. Well, once you pick up a copy of the U.K. edition, you'll be all but ruined for American Marie Claire. Not only does the U.K. version have more articles per issue and article type (all in the respectful tone we've come to expect from the U.S. version), but it includes topics that are lacking in the American edition. Ex. -- career, travel, home decor and recipes. The beauty coverage is also more extensive -- on par with the fashion coverage. (With the American version, I feel this is not the case and must look to Allure for the best beauty info.) There are also plenty of fashion, beauty and product recommendations, prices and where to get them. Unfortunately, but obviously, the prices are given in pounds and the sources are British, but I feel the quality of the magazine as a whole justifies at the very least a look, so you can judge for yourself.
