Customer Rating: Summary: Incredible Magazine Comment: This is just the most amazing magazine ever. I am truly inspired as I turn the pages. Love, love, love this magazine.
Customer Rating: Summary: A showcase for design ideas... Comment: Somerset Magazine is the most outstanding publication available for art and crafts, especially for those who are looking for innovative design ideas and quality materials. Everything featured in the magazine is geared towards the reader: artist interviews, seasonal ideas and new products as they reach the market, including inks, dyes, metals, tools and papers. Somerset is extremely user-friendly, each article geared towards accessibility and ease of application. The featured artists speak about their design inspirations, choice of materials and application; they include samples of their work, from hand-lettering to clay, stamping and other eclectic forms of artwork.
Around 1999, stamping underwent a renaissance, the whimsical stamps of yore replaced by more sophisticated concepts, stamp companies (including Stampington, the mother company of Somerset) churning out replicas of masterpieces (think Mona Lisa and Da Vinci) in an increasingly diversified market. Over the years, the fever has subsided and many stamp stores have closed. All the more reason to subscribe to Somerset and order from Stampington's online store, which carries every imaginable item for any project, stamps, papers, glass slides, CD images, fibers, stencils, cutting tools and more. Somerset features the newest applications, with a wide array of artist samples and directions on how to make these items. Each artist's featured work must be accompanied by specific directions and each month there is a new design theme, geared to time of year or seasonal interest.
Printed in full color on the highest quality stock, each issue is replete with sophisticated design ideas, tips from artists and relevant articles, including guidelines on selling your work, a user's glossary and a list of companies that supply crafting essentials. This is the only magazine of such consistent quality for crafters and artisans, offering the newest techniques in a format that is attractive and creatively stimulating. Somerset is a boon to designers, with a variety of multi-dimensional projects in each issue. Well worth the subscription price, Somerset is a publication that is anticipated by readers (back issues also available for purchase). If you are searching for inspiration, Somerset offers something for every taste, a visual feast in each new issue. Luan Gaines/2005.
Customer Rating: Summary: Beautiful Magazine Comment: I have subscribed to this magazine since it first became available and have watched it constantly evolve, getting better all the time. I have also given gift subscriptions to people who do not even do any kind of art, crafts, etc. Its beauty can be appreciated by all.
Customer Rating: Summary: High end Comment: I love all of the Somerset Studio publications. I would buy each of their publications if I never did another paper, photo or textile project again. These publications are truly "eye candy"and their projects are inspiring.
Customer Rating: Summary: Inspiring Magazine Comment: Somerset Studio is a beautiful magazine displaying creative art pieces in varying medium. I love seeing the different artists approach on the assignments such as the 'Alice in Wonderland' theme!
