Summary: A bad deal on the subscription
Comment: Here on Amazon, it's $70 for 12 issues, but go to Games Workshop's own online store and you can get 15 issues for $60 instead. Hop along there, save some money and get a few extra issues into the bargain.

Summary: Really good publication, but poor customer service
Comment: I have been reading this publication since it was made available. I initially purchased it through my local game store, and then eventually purchased a subscription through Games Workshop (GW). Each year I would either extend my subscription or a family member would do it for me. Sadly, due to some paperwork or database error, my (at the time) two year subscription was rendered null by a family member purchasing what he thought was another years extension.

The first thing that made me think that there was a problem was the fact that for three months I did not get an issue. When I called GW they advised that my subscription (again marked from the date of the beginning of the two year term I purchased myself) was over as it had run the entire year (the course of the one-year subscription purchased by my family). When I set them straight on the issue, and the fellow on the other end of the phone finally figured out why it had happened, I was advised that the back issues would be sent and things would become normal again....and I also believe in Santa Clause.

So the first back shipment arrives with the three issues promised and a notice stating "Your subscription is over, would you like to renew?" Irate I called them back and covered the same ground again....and again I fell for it. This time only one magazine came to my house before the notice arrived.

This went on for some time before I lost hope, and frankly decided that I did not care anymore.

The magazine is really good, and full of outstanding art, sadly it will never reach your home no matter what you do.

Summary: Is it really worth it?
Comment: Well, I have been subscribing to White Dwarf for many years and last year was my last subscription (after 9 years!). The reason is that White Dwarf has taken another pice hike and now it is $60 a YEAR!!!

It was $50 before, but now is has increased to 60 bucks. The contents inside are more detailed, but I only play 40,000, so half of the magazine is pretty much worthless. You decide if you want it or not. I would recommend viewing them at a local store. If you find it valuable, buy it. Otherwies, keep it on the shelf.

Summary: Worth it?
Comment: I have been a gamer for almost 7years. In that time I have seen a number of price hikes. When I first started gaming, I subscribed to White Dwarf. It was a great source of rule updates and entertainment. Battle reports are fun to read and I always enjoyed looking at the Golden Deamon winners. They include modeling hints but they will only help if you already have some experience. There is also a lot of fluff. Back then it was $50 AND you got around $20 of free figures. Now it is $50 and you only get the magazine. The quality of the content has gone up slightly but the binding on some of my last editions fell apart after two days. The only truly useful thing in WD is the rules and its best to get those in a Chapter Approved. The magazine is wonderful and gets at least 4stars but the deal has gone downhill. I love Warhammer and WD but you really need to decide if it is worth it.
