Customer Rating: Summary: For the upscale babyboomer Comment: This is for the +40 year old Philadelphian. If you want the lowdown on rock shows and beer bars, Pick up a free copy of Philadelphia weekly or the City paper. Or go to Philly . com for the local news and events.
This is a well written magazine that you can read 6 months later and it is still current. A great buy for doctors or dentists.
Customer Rating: Summary: Upward trend on this local glossy Comment: I've plucked Philadelphia off the stands two months running & it's time to get a subscription. The malaise that gripped the mag during the 90s seems to have lifted & they are once again into the entertaining investigative journalism that was their hallmark 15-20 years ago. More mainstream, no longer dedicated to...errr...whatever it was dedicated to post Mike Mallowe which was basically nothing. Would give it five stars but Philadelphia needs to show me that it's got legs (as in a fine wine...).
Customer Rating: Summary: Philadelphia not "Philled" with Enough Comment: I was hoping for more in depth and insightful information about Philadelphia and what to do, where to go, best restaurants, and such but it is a big ad and not tremendously impartial. Even the directors of admission from a few private schools we contacted after reading an article were very dismissive of the article about the best schools in Philadelphia, and their schools fared well! They thought the work was shoddy since no one provided the information from their organizations. Makes me question everything I read in it!
Customer Rating: Summary: great magazine Comment: I also disagree with the first poster; while admittedly heavy on the "upscale" advertising, Philadelphia Magazine always has at least an article or two of interest, along with great tips on what to do in the region...I also find the special issues, such as "Best of Philly", "Top Docs", and "Top Schools" both entertaining and informative.
Customer Rating: Summary: A varied, interesting read Comment: I have to disagree with the previous poster. I find this magazine to be attractive, if a little heavy on the luxury goods advertising, and filled with articles on a wide variety of subjects. It's good for those who enjoy human interest stories and want a heads-up on unique upcoming events. I'm relatively new to the metro area and every month find another "well that's cool!" reason to feel proud of the region.
