Customer Rating: Summary: fun for my son...but slides off the bed because of the material Comment: My five year old son loved this...the only problem is it slides off the bed constantly...I'm not sure if that makes it worth not buying...as I didn't have alot of options since he has a full size bed. When I was a little girl I had a twinsize my little pony tent..this is what inspired me to buy my 5 yr old one. I never remember my "my little pony " tent sliding around...maybe they shoul make the material different on the part that covers the matteress or make it larger so that it can be tucked in. I do think it is worth the buy..keeps more space in your house but gives your child a fun place to play
Customer Rating: Summary: It's been a lifesaver! Comment: We bought this tent about a year ago for our 6-year old son. He is quite developmentally delayed and we needed a way to keep him contained during the night. We had a "special needs" medical bed before this, but he has head-banging tendencies and would bang his head during the night on the hard surfaces, enough to leave bruises (eventually the bed was recalled, for other reasons). We consulted occupational therapists, doctors, nurse case managers, and durable medical equipment vendors for a solution to this problem--either a way to modify the bed we had or a different product, but there wasn't anything out there that fit our needs. About this time, our son grew out of the Pack n' Play that we'd been using as a crib when we travelled, so we needed a solution for that as well.
We found this tent while surfing the Net trying to find a solution to our problem. I had a seamstress put in two zippers along the bottom (one coming in from the left to the center and one coming in from the right to the center). When you zip these two, along with the vertical one, the bed is enclosed. I join the zippers together with a clip as well because my son discovered that the center zip has a pull on the inside. It is easy off-on and I can get in there quicker in case of emergency than with the special bed that he had.
For a mattress, I bought a thick foam one from IKEA and put it inside---so it's resting on the checkered skirt thing rather than the skirt going over the mattress. This makes it more stable and the tent can't fall over.
We also use it to travel, once my son was able to climb out of the Pack n' Play that we'd been using. We have a second tent (modified with the zippers in the same way) and use a twin sized air mattress.
Our son loves this bed and will go in it during the daytime just to hang out. He has some sensory issues and I think the feeling of being enclosed is calming for him. At night, I tell him that it's "tent time", and he crawls inside and tries to zip himself in. There's no hard surfaces that he can bang his head against. He can sleep in comfort and safety, and it has improved our lives so much. I only wish that the "special needs" equipment companies would recognize the lack of options in this area and address them.
Customer Rating: Summary: Do not buy Comment: Not much thought went into the making of this tent. Or maybe they think every child has 2 beds. The tent was to help a 2 yo sleep in his own bed but its not for sleeping in. The tent has a plastic sheet that the child has to sleep on.
Customer Rating: Summary: Race Car Tent Comment: In the picture it doesn't say anything about the tent being on a twin size fitted sheet.
Thank You
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Comment: My son is 6 years old and I set it up for him and it worked great!!!! He kept it up for about 1 month and it never fell over. I just took it down yesterday because he was hiding dirty clothes in it but other then that I have no complaints!!! I would definately recommend it.
