Summary: Easy
Comment: We purchases the base which comes with satellite monitor. We have the base inside, the other monitor outside and bought a second for our wine cellar. It was easy to set up and use. It is accurate and we haven't had any problems after a year.

Summary: Oregon Scientific BAR898HGA
Comment: This is a swseet system for monitoring the temperatures in 4 locations. I have the base unit in the study, one outside, one in the basement and one in the attic. The basement unit I use to monitor the humidity, as we have a lot of stuff stored there, and I want to be sure the dehumidifyer is set at the proper level. The attic unit I use to monitor the heat buildup in the summer to determine if I need to put in other cooling devices. The outdoor unit and the study unit have the obvious benefits. The system also maintains a perfect time that is set by the US satellite sytem, and so I adjust all other clocks and watches in the house to match this standard. I also view the base unit from time to time to see what the weather forecast is, but that is not its main use.

Summary: Nice, but....
Comment: it only worked for about a month than started losing signal, beeping, display goes wacky. Replaced the batteries, reset the probes, did all the things you are supposed to do, but it kept going berserk. Returned to OSI for a replacement and the same thing happens. Can't recommend until they fix the problem. Suspect it is some cheap memory or poor circuits. Either way it is a BIG problem.

It does look good however, and when it works, it was great.

Summary: Connection to remote unit fails
Comment: I'm one of those people who can't get a reliable signal between the remote and the base. It's worked for as long as an hour and then the signal suddenly disappears and the base stops displaying the outside temp. I've reset everything, changed the batteries, tried every channel, moved the units close, moved everything away from other possible radio sources, and nothing. I'm buying a replacement THGR268 to try, but this is a brand new device so I shouldn't be going through this.

Summary: great weather station!
Comment: I love this weather station! We really needed the ability to determine humidity in the house because we live in the mid-Atlantic where the summer gets hot & steamy. In order to avoid mold problems, we need to monitor humidity. I love that this unit allows me to have three remote sensors. I can track the temp & humidity in 4 total locations. We have one sensor outdoors, one in the attic and there is the central unit in the living room. I can still add one more sensor in the future. I have found this unit to be very accurate in reading temperature, humidity & the atomic clock is always correct. It was simple to set up as well. I am not very technical (hubby is in charge of setting up all gadgets like this plus tv, vcr, dvd, etc.) and I had no problems at all setting this unit up. Instructions are very user friendly. For the price, this is a great unit and I recommend it without hesitation.
