This manual grater is useful for grating Parmesan over pasta, peanuts on top of Thai dishes, or chocolate on a cappuccino. Made of 18/10 stainless steel, the Accutec grating blade is photo-etched rather than stamped like most grating blades. As such, the blade is extremely sharp and holds its edge over time. This blade also glides through food without tearing or shredding, retaining the foods fresh flavor. The grater has an extra-wide hopper for fitting in bigger chunks of cheese or chocolate than most graters can handle. The crank moves in either direction, making this grater useful for both righties and lefties. For easy cleaning, the drum is removable and both the blade and the plastic arm can go right in the dishwasher. This kitchen tool is covered by a lifetime warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde review.

Customer Rating: Summary: Dissapointment Comment: This is the second grater I bought. I use this type of grater for hard cheese like Parmesan. Some of the more expensive Parmesan cheeses can be as hard as wood.
The first problem I encountered with this grater is that there is a lip inside the hopper that the cheese is forced against by the rotation of the cutting blade. A hard cheese will hang up on this lip, and you will end up squeezing the handle very hard without grating any cheese. This problem is relatively easy to solve with a file.
After I removed the lip with a file, I ran into the second problem. This grater powders the cheese. It cuts really slowly.
Over all, I am disappointed.
