Made of 18/10 stainless steel, this manual grater has a coarse grating surface for hard cheeses, chocolate, or vegetables. Its Accutec blade is photo-etched rather than stamped like most grating blades. As such, the blade is extremely sharp and holds its edge over time. This blade also glides through food without tearing or shredding, retaining the food’s fresh flavor. The brushed stainless-steel handle has a oval shape that is comfortable to hold for longer grating jobs. A nonslip pad just above the head of the grater lets you rest one end on your work surface while grating. For safety, this grater comes with a protective plastic cover for use during storage. Comment: I purchased both this fine grater and the coarse grater when they were on clearance at Linens N Things thinking they were going to be ordinary graters. I had previously owned a Microplane grater and was content with it until I tried the fine grater from Cuisipro. I zested a lemon as soon as I got home and swore that I got twice as much zest from this grater compared to my old Microplane grater! Not only were the blades finer than the "fine" Microplane blades, but it was also easier to get the zest off the back. The coarse grater worked just as well, making grating twice as fast and beautiful. I will never use any other grater but this one! In our home Parmesan was used to "snow" on top of most dishes. If you have tried to grate three year-old Parmesan you know what a work out that can be. This grater cuts grating time approximately in half. I also like the nonskid pad on the end of the device that you put on your cutting.
