Editorial Reviews:

The magazine covers the punk rock, hardcore, emo, and indie music scenes. It brings a healthy dose of humor, knowledge, and style to a forum that record collectors, hipsters, and even mall goers will love.

Summary: Great mag, great peeps
Comment: I've had the honor of writing for these guys, and not only do they publish an excellent publication with awesome graphic design, but they are truly nice, down-to-earth people. The critics all have credibility, and give an honest review of a band, and not just ride the bandwagon of the Pitchfork Medias, Pastes, Maximum Rock n Rolls, etc. They're intelligent but not pretentious, open-minded but not trendy. Also, they have an inrivaled wit. Be sure to check out the June issue, my debut story with LOI gets published. Wish me luck. :-)

Summary: It is starting to fall off.
Comment: I am starting to see Law of Inertia sort of decline in quality, it was a great magazine back in the day, with tons of interviews, funny and truthful reviews and entertaining stories and columns and what not. As of late though I am starting to see it get corny and the reviews are starting to get more label friendly. I would also complain about how they put features on bands, yes FEATURES! I can't believe how dumb it is to do features on a band, what an utter waste of time. You look at the cover of the magazine and you think, cool they are going to do a Murder By Death interview, or they are going to do a cool interview with whoever and then you open it up and it's just a feature. I can see that they can't interview the number of bands they used to be able to, seeing as it is on a quicker publishing schedule than before, but what gives? If your going to give us all filler why give us something we can get off of the band's website? This is innane and hopelessly useless, I can't believe that they have resorted to such a cheap gimmick, putting a bunch of bands on their cover and only interviewing two or three of them. This is utterly dissapointing. The reviews are getting more and more label friendly and less reliable. they even give good reviews to bands that got dissed in issues before! I'm only going to give this four becuase back in the day they were the best little zine ever, but recently they have been tottally lacking. But I will have to say that Ross sounds like a pretty stand up guy, I won't diss him, but he needs to make this magazine a magazine and not make it look like a zine that wants to be a magazine, or maybe he should just keep it that way it is.

Summary: Technically 4.5 stars, but you know...round up and all
Comment: I figured since no one else had written any review for this at all, I might as well even though my reviews always blow and I'm so lousy at it.
My favorite band was said to have an article in this magazine a long while ago so I picked it up and was blown away. I subscribed to it shortly after. It centers around some of the more lesser known bands, and newer bands, but has articles on some of the bigger bands like AFI, Alkaline Trio and so forth and so on. It's layed out so nicely and it's organized. Not like others where you have to skip around stupid stuff like ads and the articles are all over the pages. It has ads, but for upcoming albums, it's so awesome.
It's totally worth your money, I think, and always has great bands. The articles which aren't related to bands are just as good, too. Just recently there was an article on the straightedge movement and how it died so quickly. It's just a great magazine. I said I gave it 4.5 stars because I'm always cautious on giving anything a perfect score, that has to be for something totally radical.
I hope that's good enough until someone else comes along and writes a review leaving my pathetic one to collect dust.
