Editorial Reviews:

The D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G630 Cardbus Adapter is a wireless cardbus featuring the very latest in advanced wireless silicon chip technology including enhanced security to shield and protect your wireless communication from intruders. The DWL-G630 also works with 802.11b standard wireless devices and when used with other D-Link AirPlus G products delivers throughput speeds up to 54Mbps, meaning it is capable of handling heavy data payloads. Like all D-Link wireless adapters, the DWL-G630 can be used in ad-hoc mode to connect directly with other cards for peer-to-peer file sharing or in infrastructure mode to connect with a wireless access point or router for access to the Internet in your office or home network.

Summary: Not Working
Comment: I bought this card for my laptop which has Windows NT Workstation 4 Service Pack 4 installed. Cannot get it to work. Keep getting an error message and when I contact D Link I get a response that says it is for Windows XP. So evidently they are not reading the information I emailed them. Have been trying to install this for 4 days with no luck.

Summary: Does the job at a great price
Comment: I've got an older laptop, dual-booting XP Pro and Kubuntu 8.04. Booted into XP, installed the drivers, installed the card, and everything works just fine. Booted into Kubuntu with the card still inserted, and didn't even have to install anything -- the card was recognized, configured, and surfing instantly.

I would highly recommend this card for Linux users...

Summary: Great Wireless Cardbus Adapter for my Linux Laptop
Comment: I bought the D-Link DWL-G630 in the hopes that I could use the native Atheros driver under Linux on an old laptop I am resurrecting. I was glad to see that the card I recieved was the C2 hardware revision, which does indeed use the Atheros chipset. (My understanding is that some revs of this card use a different chipset.)

I put the card in the slot, booted up, loaded the Atheros driver module, configured my WEP, and BINGO, I was online. Although Linux has many strong suits, wireless networking is not one of them. I was glad that this D-Link card worked so painlessly.

This may be a trivial point, but I love the color scheme of the D-Link label on the card. It's a touch retro, I think, which appeals to me.

I would also like to put in a plug for the particular Amazon vendor I chose: Compuwise Expert Solutions, for amazingly low price and exceptionally fast shipping.

I am extremely pleased with this purchase, and I highly recommend this wirelesss adapter.

Summary: Bought this card for use with OSX86
Comment: works great. Used the airport kext from 10.4.8 and it works fine. only problem is you need to use network diagnostics to connect to WPA networks.
