I was only bringing one backpack so I needed everything to be as compact as possible. I was not let down - the anorak folded easily into itself and was very compact (about a 5x7 inch pouch, with little thickness). As a windbreaker, it worked well against coastal breezes. I had to layer up to stay warm, but the size of the jacket allowed for that.
I listened to the other reviewers' advice about sizes and bought a small, which was the perfect size - only a little big. Definitely do not overestimate the size. One side toggle didn't work but the other side does, so was still able to cinch waist.
