Summary: sharp and beautiful
Comment: I had terrible knives before these, so I fell in love right away.
The knives are sharp, the sharpening stick woks extremely well to hone it whenever my husband decides he "needs" to sharpen a knife. The knives are so sharp that we have both accidentally cut ourselves while doing dishes.
The block for the knives is nice, but I wish I could hang it, like I have seen in some kitchens, under the cabinet. I like that the metal goes all the way through the handle, as it makes me feel like I have a good grip on the knives.
I am not a big fan of the wood they used for the block, but that is just personal preference. I would have liked a darker, heavier wood, or bamboo or something like that. Again, that's just me.
It's a little awkward for the little knives to fit in the block because the slots are a little too big, so they do not automatically align when you insert them. I have slight OCD issues, so it bothers me, but I just have to align it myself, so all the handles point in the same direction. It's an aesthetic thing really.
But I really do love my knives and the weight of them and everything.

Summary: Knife and block review
Comment: We bought this set as a Christmas gift to ourselves, because the $10 knife set I bought from Wal-Mart years ago was never very good in the first place and we wanted to stop fighting to cut through food.
These knives are fabulous. There is a large variety to choose from, and they all cut through vegetables and meat like butter. I am in love with the knives.
I would have given 5 stars, but the one thing I hate about the set is the pre-fab "one size fits all" knife block. I can't stand it. I would much prefer a block where the slots are cut to the size of the blades. I would suggest if that is a pet peeve of yours as well, to go out and find a new block that you like. We are in the process of doing so ourselves.
Otherwise the set is great. I have always heard great things about Henckels, and knew that they were the knife set I wanted. Upon use, I am glad to find out that they are just as great as I had heard.

Comment: I bought these as a Christmas gift for my dad, and he loves them. They're very sharp, and though I'm no knife expert, they seem like very good quality. The only thing is that the knife block comes with slots for steak knives, so if you don't buy the steak knives in addition to the set, it looks kind of empty. But otherwise I'm very happy with the purchase.

Comment: This is a great set of knives! I got this for my wife, she loves to cook and we didn't have a good knives set, so this was an awesome Christmas present for her. She loves them and she's very happy with the quality and the ease which she now cuts the stuff when she cooks.
NOTE: They are VERY sharp so be very careful on handeling them as they WILL cut you if you don't handle correctly.
