USB connections are everywhere - chances are if you purchase a device that plugs into a computer, it uses a USB connector. Not all USB peripherals perform the same - many of the latest operate at high-speed and push data up to 40 times faster than standard USB. Summary: Deep Sleep compatibility
Comment: One issue that has plagued add-in USB cards for the Macintosh for years is problems with power saving. Either the computer will not sleep, will crash on waking or sleeping, or it will lose contact with the card and attached devices. This card, when used with Mac OS 10.5.2 specifically, seems to eliminate these problems. According to email from Sonnet support, this was fixed in the 10.5 beta, broken in 10.5 and 10.5.1, and now works properly. My G5 will enter deep sleep, and wake correctly, even with a USB floppy drive connected and a disk in the drive. Will other cards now work properly? Maybe, but so far only Sonnet has actually said so in writing. I'm very happy!

Summary: Simple to install, works perfectly
Comment: I ordered this to add USB2 to my Mac G4 MDD. As advertised, I opened the side door of the Mac, installed the card, turned on the Mac, and it worked perfectly from the very start. Now I can enjoy my new iPod which requires USB2 to synch. Good product at a good price.

Comment: Buying the Sonnet Allegro is definitely the way to go if you are looking to install high speed USB expansion in your Mac tower. There's not too much else out there that is compatible with Mac.....sadly. The only downside is the sleep issue, which is pretty much a problem no matter which product you buy. Just shut down the computer every night!

Summary: Good Quality, Poor Installation Instructions.
Comment: Having never been well versed in the PCI Slot area, I assumed the number of pins would match the slots, which it didn't and the instructions were nearly non-existent on the installation. However, once installed it work as advertised, and I was well pleased.
