Customer Rating: Summary: Great buy for a Great Product! Comment: I just received this product, and it works GREAT! Its exactly what i was looking for. And i love that it has the A/V connections, now I'm able to hook up my old home movies and transfer them to DVD or just save on hard drive. I was also was able to receive two channels without even connecting cable or antenna.
I have Vista and was very pleased with the installing of this hardware, didn't have any problems or complications. It was extremely easy to install into the motherboard, and was up and running in no time. I also love how it doesn't consumer your computer when watching or recording, still able to multitask while using it.
I can't say enough at how pleased I am with this product, I've had some external USB video capture products from other companies, and the quality of this by far surpasses those.
GREAT PRODUCT for a GREAT PRICE.....cant be beat. Customer Rating: Summary: Don't buy this! Comment: This only work if you have Windows Media Center or Vista Home Premium installed. I bought the white box unit because of the FM tuner but I couldn't use it and is taking space on my PC. The software is not available on the Internet, so I don't know how I could use this.
Before you buy it, make sure you have the software or buy it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Works right out of the box.....almost. Comment: Install the hardware but ensure you down load the most current drivers at
Works like a charm under XP Pro. Don't be concerned about the Media Center instructions, this works under Pro just fine. Customer Rating: Summary: Great deal. Works with vista and linux Comment: I run a dual boot with Vista Business and Suse 10.3. The Hauppauge WinTV-PVR150 installed in both with no issues.
For Vista I had to go to the site and download the latest drivers. I assume the need for new driver discs is the reason Amazon can unload these ones so cheaply.
SuSE did not need any help(with the driver) and soon had MythTV running.
I coughed up $20 bucks a year for schedules direct since I don't have Digital cable here. With that I can have full DVR functionality based on live schedule of programs and details.
Worth every penny. I recommend you find yourself a remote, though I use keyboard browsing just fine. Customer Rating: Summary: Good PVR with high quality picture, but problems with Vista Comment: I have several of these PVRs and find the pictures they output to be superior to anything else I have tried. They are easy to install in a machine; however, sometimes their drivers with Windows Vista Media Center need a little tweaking. Also, a warning -- if you are running Windows Vista and have more than 3GB of total memory (RAM + video card memory) in your system, this card will not work. Hauppauge has said that it's released driver updates for this issue on it's other newer PVR cards (HVR 1600 and 1800MC) but not for this particular card (and they say they have no plans to do so). If you're using this card in a Windows XP machine or a Windows Vista machine with 3GB of total system memory or less, it is a great deal. However, I'm not sure this would be the best choice of card for a gamer or power user, as I'm sure they'd have more than 3GB of total system memory. For myself, I've decided to keep these cards and limit my RAM to 2GB and my video card to 768MB.
