Customer Rating: Summary: Great WinTV Card Comment: ATTN - WINDOWS VISTA USERS:
Despite what is listed on Hauppauge's website, their drivers and software are NOT yet compatible with Vista (as of 4/25/08). I had problems getting my first card to work in Vista back in November, called Hauppauge, and they sent me a new working card (as the first one actually was defective).
Hauppauge told me to let Windows Vista automatically install drivers for the card, then use "Windows Media Center" in Vista to setup and watch TV, and NOT their software.
Oh...that reminds me...the card is fussy in regards to which PCI slot it wants to work in. This card MUST be in PCI slot ONE in order to work and be recognized in Windows Vista. (Not sure if this is true with other operating systems).
So, if at first the card does not work, try swapping it and your other cards around, making sure this TV card is in the very first slot.
Windows Media Center works great with this card. The video quality is superb and the audio and video synchronize perfectly.
The only problem I have sometimes is not with the card, but with Windows Media Center. Whenever Windows Media Center updates the program guide and I try to access the TV channels inside Media Center, I get a green screen, stuttery video, and choppy audio with this card. Restarting the computer (sometimes a couple times) solves this problem. Customer Rating: Summary: Positive review Comment: Item came in fine shape and as advertised. We still have to install it in our computer.
Customer Rating: Summary: Pleased with purchase Comment: After reading A LOT of reviews from many different sites on different tuners, I went with the Hauppauge PVR-150 (bought two). I was alittle nervous about what the picture quality would be like as I had the WinTV Go Plus and it was not that great.
I am extremely satisfied with the picture quality of the tuner. They work great with Beyond TV. I use one to control my cable box. (great feature)
As for the software that comes with the tuner, it worked when I installed the first tuner. After installing the second, it no longer worked. I did SEVERAL uninstalls/reinstalls to see if I could get it to work. No success.
However, as stated above, I use the tuners with Beyond TV from Snapstream. Now I have a dual dvr on my computer and I'm happy.
Thanks! Customer Rating: Summary: why 4 stars Comment: This is a good tv card all around the tv quality is very very good the only thing that I don't like is that it won't record direct to dvd from the external imput you have to save it to a file than copy to the dvd this will not act as a video capture card if you want to put your home vhs or cam corder on a dvd. You have to save it in mpeg format first. Customer Rating: Summary: Good value Comment: The picture quality if much better than my old tuner card. It was very easy to set up with myth tv in Linux. Except for all the remote control buttons aren't set up probably right out of the box in mythtv.
