Motorola's next-generation SURFboard SB5120 Cable Modem incorporates the latest DOCSIS 2.0 Advanced Time Division Multiple Access (A-TDMA) and Sychnronous Code Division Multiple Access (S-CDMA) technologies to provide up to three times greater upstream capacity than DOCSIS 1.0/1.1 systems. Packed with power, the SB5120 is interoperable and backward compatible with DOCSIS 1.0 and 1.1 for a fast and timely transition - operators can deploy the SB5120 today without a service interruption. The Motorola SURFboard SB5120 is flexible and allows operators to maximize their current infrastructure investments and also offer additional cost-effective services, all at the same time. Convenient for both operators and end-users alike, the SURFboard SB5120 ensures end-user security via a top-mounted stand-by switch that quickly isolates the USB and Ethernet connection to the PC without disconnecting the cable modem from the RF network. What's more, the SB5120 simplifies troubleshooting with its front panel status indicator LEDs and integrated HTML diagnostics page. The SURFboard SB5120 is competitively priced and includes many of the valuable features found in previous SURFboard models, such as USB and Ethernet connectivity, software upgrades available over the network, proven field reliability, a quality, advanced RF design, and a high-performance processor. Highly functional and attractive, the Motorola SURFboard SB5120 features a new, compact design that is a stylish and clutter-free addition to virtually any desktop.

Customer Rating: Summary: great product Comment: This modem was easy to install and seems to be doing everything I want it to.
Customer Rating: Summary: excellent Comment: I like this item very much. It works well and the heat generated is very low. Also, the delivery is superb. It arrived very fast.
Customer Rating: Summary: Died After 1 Yr 7 Mo. Comment: Bought this product and it worked flawlessly up until it died after 1 year and 7 months. Resets were very uncommon, happening once every 3 months or so, although these were probably only needed due to errors by the ISP. I did run this modem 24x7 365 which may have led to its demise, but also it may have just been a bad apple; therefore, I'm giving it a 4 star rating.
Customer Rating: Summary: No Problems - Just Like to Want It Comment: This item is nothing less than you would prefer when buying technology. Take it out of the box and use it. Set it and forget it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Motorola warranty procedure STINKS! Comment: I purchased this cable modem four months ago. It worked fine - for four months - then it started dropping the connection. Turns out, the connections for the ethernet cable are defective at the circuit board level. (No physical damage or stress caused the defect - it sits safely in a closed media closet.) Motorola agreed to replace it but I must pay for the shipping of the new one to me or else wait for two weeks while I send the defective one to them. Once they get it they will send another to me - "within 7 to 8 business days after they receive it". So, unless I want to be without internet/email for up to three weeks (including shipping time) I have to pay for them to ship the replacement to me. Over twelve dollars for the 2-day UPS option. They offer a 1-day option for twice the price! Then I still need to ship mine to them. I'm probably looking at about half the cost (in shipping charges) of a new one for a warranty replacement! In my opinion, if a manufacturer determines that their product is defective, all cost associated with the replacement under the warranty should be borne by the manufacturer not the consumer. I'm very disappointed with Motorola and will remember this lousy experience before purchasing any more of their products.
