Editorial Reviews:

The DVD-R 4.7GB 50 pack is used with DVD Recordable Drives that support DVD-R/RW blank media and certain DVD-RAM Recordable Drives that incorporate DVD-R as a write once solution.

Summary: Good product
Comment: Memorex DVD-Rs are, I have found, the best overall value for the money. I have a reasonably recent Sony DVD+/-RW recorder with BluRay capability and found that some of the non-mainstream brands would fail during burning. The Memorex DVD-Rs are consistently good quality, and I have had only one fail out of three 50-Pack spindles.

Highly recommended!

Summary: Don't Buy this brand
Comment: I bought the Memorex DVD-R and they were all defective. They wouldn't read or record. Save yourself the trouble and cost and buy somebody else's brand.

Comment: These things are CHEAP! And I don't mean that in the sense that they're a bargain, they're a ripoff. I tried to save some money and get these instead of a better brand. Failed burn, after failed burn, after failed burn. I ONLY BOUGHT A 10 PACK AND I'VE GOT 4 COASTERS!! If you want quality blank media, get Sonys. And If you really want superior quality then invest in some Taiyo Yuden brand media. They Are the best buy far. I've burned literally hundreds of disks on them and NEVER had a failed burn.

Summary: Bait and Switch?
Comment: When I searched for "Light Scribe" enabled disks I was shown a set of 50 Memorex LightScribe DVD+R's. Along with the a description that correctly followed the picture. After ordering and receiving my product I received a regular 50 pack of DVD-R's that were not LightScribe.

I did not fault anyone until I went to Ritz's customer service for help since they were the vendor. This was absolutely no help because I was told that I would be charged a 15% restocking fee as well as the additional shipping charge to return something that was not what I ordered in the first place. Never once was I offered by Ritz to simply swap the items out for what I had thought I was supposed to be receiving. I was told that Amazon's website probably led to an improperly labled or completed item and that was the reason for the mix up but that it should now be properly displayed...and it was for a 10 dollars more than what I had paid for.

I understand when mistakes are made and if website updates cause problems with improper links being followed on similar items, but the way in which Ritz Camera and their policies handled this situation was shameful and I intend to never purchase anything from them either online or at local stores again for the sly way in which they covered their own foul up.

Summary: all right by me !!!
Comment: Memorex makes a very reliable blank DVD-R that can handle up to 4.7 GB of data. Moreover, these blank DVD-Rs are capable of recording data at speeds up to 16x. The video I record onto these lasts forever. I have used these as discs to record video both with and without audio.

The DVD-R discs are compact and easy to store. While the discs are still blank, store them in the circular case on the spindle that they came in. After your record video onto them, I would recommend storing them in slim jewel cases instead of paper sleeves. It's just better protection for your DVD-Rs that have information stored on them. Don't store these discs, used or blank, in rooms that become very hot; this causes damage to any brand of this type of disc and you could lose your recorded video over time.

There are two caveats that many other people note about any brand of this product: when you are burning the video onto the blank disc using computer software, don't be surprised if you see that the data is burning at a rate slower than 16x. This can happen if your burner doesn't have the capacity to burn faster, or it may be a quirk. I am not a professional so I cannot be certain of precisely what causes this phenomenon; but I assure you that the extra minute or two (tops) that you wait to get your DVD-R completed is worth the wait. In addition, DON'T write on these using Sharpie ink pens. The ink can seep through the top coating of the DVD-R disc and slowly but surely compromise your data--and you wouldn't want that, now would you? If you need to label the discs, label its' jewel case using a post-it note.

Overall, Memorex blank DVD-R discs store video reliably over the years and I believe that an extra minute to burn the data onto the blank disc is well worth it in the event that it doesn't actually burn at 16x.

Use `em in good health!
