Comment: I'm not sure why this product has so many bad reviews but it doesn't deserve it. This is a excellent product and it works great for laptop hard drives and regular desktop hard drives. It worked perfect right out of the box and it was shipped fast. The product was not cheap as some described it and it looks as if it was updated since the original pictures of this product was taken. It is great for the money and I was able to save my data thanks to this usb-ide cord. =)

Comment: Instantly worked, allowing me to retrieve and salvage the hard drive from my busted seven year old desktop computer. I easily transferred files to my laptop. The adaptor allows the HD to be recognized as plug & play. I took the hint from some other reviews after removing the HD from the old tower casing, first powering on the HD, then plugging in the USB cord to my laptop, and it was instantly recognized as a mass data drive, and I could see all files and folders.

Comment: I really can't complain about this product, it works as advertised and I didn't manage to catch anything on fire.
Once you toss the horrible instructions and unneeded driver CD's it's quite easy to use. Plug the IDE end of the cable into your drive, connect power to your drive, then plug the USB end of the cable into your machine or USB hub and after a few seconds your system should detect the drive as a standard USB mass storage device.
Not exactly pretty, and it doesn't protect your drive, so you don't want to use this as a solution for permanantly hooking up a drive to your box. However, if you just need to preform weekly backups, clone a HDD, or recover data this is the perfect tool.

Comment: I needed to get into a couple of drives I had stashed from my old puter. This thing worked as advertised. I was able to access the contents with ease. Hard drive showed up immediately in my computer. Grabbed the other drive and did the same thing and had acces to all the data I was looking for. Good product and I would highly recommend it.
