Form and functionality collide with style in the NexStar 3 External Hard Drive Enclosure from Vantec. With its mirror finish, sleek curves and bold colors, the Vantec NexStar 3 stands out from the crowd. The sturdy drive cage protects your hard drive while the aluminum case effectively draws away the heat, protecting your drive from overheating. The NexStar 3 also utilizes USB 2.0, offering speeds up to 480Mbps, 40 times the speed of USB 1.1! But if you are using USB 1.1, the NexStar 3 is still an ideal way to store and transfer large amounts of data. Available in 4 vivid colors, the NexStar 3 lets you store your personal data in an enclosure that matches your style!

Customer Rating: Summary: Very good. Comment: Customer service was good. It is a slick unit. I liked the velvet bag for carrying it with you.
Customer Rating: Summary: Excelent Choice Comment: I had tried another that was much cheaper, did not work and no support at all. I made an excellent choice when I bought this hard drive enclosure. This Vantec Nexstar is worth every penny, is Plug and Play, it's easy to connect drive to the enclosure. Comes with a very cool carrying case and easy to follow installation instructions.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Product!!! Comment: This is great and works flawlessly (except for one screw I couldn't get to go in). Both XP and Vista discovered the device and installed the drivers quickly and without any interaction from me.
A+++
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Buy! Comment: I was initially going to buy one of the cheap <$10 enclosures but when i saw this one I changed my mind and I don't regret it. I haven't used it much yet but so far its great. I ran SiSoft Sandra's disk benchmark on it and I got 19MB per second which was the same as a 60GB 7200rpm drive which has to be great since the notebook hard drive is 20GB 5400rpm.
I only have two complaints:
1.The circuit board was not initially screwed into the case so when i opened the package it slid right out hit the table...luckily not the floor. So be careful when removing it from the antistatic bag.
2. It would have been cool if there was a swivel out foot to balance the enclosure in the upright position like in the picture.
I didn't have any problems with the locking screws...they fit perfectly and since I'm not planning on doing alot of drive swaping, the screws are not a problem. The enclosure looks great...even better than in the picture. The vantec logo at the front lights up bright blue for power indication and blinks for activity.
The enclosure has a solid feel to it, looks sophisticated, works great and the carrying case seals the deal. Buy it!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great enclosure Comment: I bought this enclosure exactly a year ago. I use it to hold all my backup files and carry them around with me, or if I need to transfer alot of data from one computer to the next.
The best things about this is that it is DEPENDABLE, looks great, and does what it is supposed to.
One of the things that I would have modified about this is I would have put rubber feet on it. When you set it down and begin to plug in the USB cable, the thing slides all over the place: causing a few drops. But... it still works.
