In 1990, entrepeneur, Britta Cox, discovered a microfiber fabric. This fabric was soft and lightweight and at the same time was super absorbent. The Aquis towel is woven from the unique Aquitex microfiber, which makes the towels very absorbant and instantly soaks up water on contact. Summary: Great absorbency; compact pack size; comfortable material
Comment: I bought this towel to replace my well-worn and slightly undersized Coghlan camp towel (measured about 7 x 28in after much stretching and wringing, viscose rayon) which did well for me on a seven month backpacking trip. So far, I'm very pleased with my purchase.
For those who prefer "ultralight" minimalist traveling, a microfiber towel like this should be tops on your list. Still maintaining a small footpring in my pack, the size of this towel is a huge upgrade from my old one. With its 39" length, it wears like a bath towel and dries nearly as well. The microfiber material feels great against the skin and much, much better than my old viscose rayon towel. Packed into its storage bag, it takes up only about 8.5 x 8.5 x 0.6in of space in your pack. Now having tried out a number of different travel towels, I can quickly recommend this, along with any other microfiber towel (MSR, Sea-to-Summit). Another option for a cheap, ultralight towel would be to use one of those leather chamoises that are typically used for drying cars. They tend to be constructed of very soft material, can soak up large volumes of water and dry very quickly.

Comment: I have used Aquis microfiber towels for my hair for the past few years. They are excellent for that purpose because they are lightweight and they don't break hairs or damage hairs. My hair is very thick and it takes all day to air dry. These towels speed up the process by wicking out more water.
We've started using these large microfiber towels on the boat. They are extremely absorbent and dry very quickly after about an hour hanging under the boom. The colors, graphite, red, and blueberry are vibrant.

Comment: We have used high performance synthetic camping towels for 8 years. The Aquis are much better than previous generations of the blue or yellow camp towels. While they are compact and dry quickly, the feel is like terrycloth - soft and luxurious. You know what I mean if you've ever used the older versions. These towels dry your body well, dry faster than terrycloth as well as the old camp towels they replaced.

Summary: Large too small
Comment: I have always loved these towels for camping and then came along children and they are great to take to the beach, especially when you are hiking there and want to lighten your load. However, my children ages 2 and 6, complain these are too small. I would say they are great to dry off with but certainly not to wrap up in. I would go ahead and buy the x-lrg size for all your family members.

Summary: When Is Less More?
Comment: I have seen my wife and sister use Aquis Microfiber towels for years. Their specific use tends to be as a head wrap following a hair wash - presumably reducing the time it takes to dry their hair when they are ready. These incredibly thirsty towels are good for so much more than that. Not to get too personal, but I have all but ceased to use the nice fluffy, expensive spa like towels in favor of my trusty 19 X 39" miracle! I'll probably never understand how or why the Aquis towels work - but WORK they do. If you need super efficient effectiveness in a small package - look no further!
