Summary: Plugged it in and works
Comment: Purchased to be used with both MBP & iMac for faxing docs direct from computer. Configured quickly with very little effort. No issues.

Only complaint is with Apple -- why couldn't they include this little part on the machines??

Summary: easy install, easy setup, slow to negotiate connection, crashed my Mac.
Comment: I purchased this item to use with my 15" MacBook Pro while traveling in Brazil. Installation was effortless; MacOS 10.5.2 automatically added it as a network interface. Configuration was similar: Simply enter the username, password, phone number. Initially I had issues with the connection dropping every 5-7 mins, and Aqua would freeze, requiring a hard reboot. Searching on Apple's website (in 5-7 minute blocks) yielded many people complaining of the same problem. I tried a number of solutions, including changing USB ports, unplugging the power, changing phone cables, etc. Some combination of these (I don't recall exactly which, but I think it was "unplug power and use USB port next to the power connector") resolved the issue and I was able to connect for several hours without problem.

Summary: Does not work with Intel based MacBook Pros
Comment: Review of Apple MAO347Z/A External V.2 Modem: I should have heeded the advice in Sigrid E. Mortensen's review. This modem does not work on an Intel based MacBook Pro. I called Amazon and they said they didn't comment on reviews. I said I was not asking them to comment on a review I was asking them about a matter of fact. The person on the phone stuck to her guns and told me nothing. It would appear that Amazon knows very little about the products it sells. It should have found out the answer to my question. Instead they sent the modem to me and now I have to send it back to them.

Summary: OK, modem (Works in Boot Camp, too)
Comment: This modem works OK. No speed demon, takes a while to dial. It does work in Windows XP with the modem drivers that Apple provides with your boot camp install. The modem is a Motorola SM56 in Apple packaging. You can use the driver that comes on your Leopard install disk DVD to install this modem on any Windows XP machine, you just have to drill down through the folders to find the right install program (turn off AutoRun, or cancel the Apple Boot Camp installer if you do not want the entire suite of Boot Camp drivers to install)

Summary: Great
Comment: I'm using it with Leopard, and it worked fine, as advertised. I haven't try sending fax with it yet, will try it soon. But as far as receiving faxes, there were no problem. Very easy to set up. Recommended.
