Customer Rating: Summary: The gadget resusitated my son's Vaio Comment: The docking station was the solution that prevented me from throwing the Sony Vaio in the trash. A repair to the power port would have cost close to $700 because it it happens to be connected to the mother board, which would not have been worth the cost to repair. The docking station for $70 was much more in line with the amount I was willing to spend to keep the Vaio functioning. Incidentally, I will never purchase another Sony Laptop. Customer Rating: Summary: Sony VAIO Docking Station Comment: This Docking Station is true to its word as to ease of use! I personally like this produce and find it perfect for my Laptop and all item attach to it which are many. It's a great produce! Customer Rating: Summary: Vague item description - poor quality Comment: I haven't even gotten to use this product because it's incompatible with my specific AR model series. The description when i bought this was for FE/AR series notebook and left alone at that. On top of that i'm even more upset now to find i bought this a little under 2 months ago for $200+ to see its going for like $60 bucks now with numerous quality issues...i'll definetly be ragging like the previous review under me to Sony about this. Customer Rating: Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS! Comment: I own one of these and it just died. Couldn't boot at all this a.m. and took the laptop off the dock to see what would happen--started right up without it! Lucky it died. It lead to the discovery of why it always took 3 reboots to get the computer properly started and establish a net connection, as well as why I could never get anything to print for the year I've had it. Apparently, the NIC, and who knows what else in the dock, has been malfunctioning all this time--mangling bits to network printers resulting in dropped out areas in the print, if it even printed at all. Tried the direct connection out of the laptop to see what would happen and viola! Everything is Jake. Internet response is peppier, too, probably because of fewer errors and resends. THIS PRODUCT *SHOULD* BE RECALLED! Went to Fry's to get a USB hub to replace the ports lost on the defective dock and saw that they are trying to "close-out" refurb/returns of this unit at bargain-basement prices. BUYERS BEWARE! Owners: LET'S RAG SONY ON THIS!!! Customer Rating: Summary: It doesn't work! Comment: The connection between docking station and VAIO is bad! Connection gets lost and forces the VAIO to go on the batter power without any alert. I have to push down the VAIO to get connection again but it becomes disconnected after few minutes. I received second unit but have same problem. My observation is that it's the bad industrial design thus all of them would have the same problem. Does anyone know of a recall on this product???
