Summary: Good solution once you get used to it
Comment: I was trying to use a mountain mirrycle with bar ends and it was not working out; so I deceided to give these a try. First of all they are very sturdy and built of good quality. The other reviews are correct in that the mirrors are convex plastic and have a small field of view. I have found that after a using them for a couple of months I have gotten used to what I am looking at and they work quite well. You must keep them clean though; finger prints and smudges can really distort the small viewing area. Overall I think these are a good solution for mountain bikers who sometimes ride on the road or people in suburban or rual areas. I would not recomend them for heavy commuters or messangers in crowded urban areas as the field of view is too small and the convex aspect makes traffic appear farther and smaller. Bottom line: Will I replace these if something happens to them? Yes I will.

Summary: Hard to use
Comment: I love the idea of this... sleek, out of the way for transit but
readily available on the road, protected when not in use. Unfortunately,
the reality is a hard to use product that does little to improve road safety.
Because of the narrowness of the mirror, it's very difficult to focus on what
is actually behind you with a quick glance. Sure, if you sit there for 10
seconds you can figure it out, but I don't have that sort of time when I'm
dodging through Chicago traffic!

Save your money and buy the excellent Mirrcycle instead.

Summary: Clever but compromised.
Comment: Stout all-metal construction with real glass mirrors. Easy installation and comfortable as grips whether or not mirrors are deployed. The design compromise is that the mirrors are vertically short, making the image difficult to assess at a glance. Once unfolded, the mirrors pivot on a horizontal axis through a fixed set of detents, so the optimum grip angle may not coincide with a useful pivot setting.

Summary: A compromise between clean looks and functionality.
Comment: I purchased this item because I needed a mirror (I use my mtn bike for occasional commuting and hauling a kiddie trailer) and a set of bar ends for those long rides. I liked the clean looks when the mirror was folded away.

The grips actually feel not too bad when the mirrors are closed, but when the mirrors are in the open position, it feels a little strange gripping a hollowed out bar. I would personally prefer a solid rounded bar. Also, because of the design, rear view is pretty narrow top to bottom, so these are only good for riding on smooth surfaces. I should add the mirrors are convex and not flat. The surfaces of the mirrors are not perfectly curved (I find this to be true with most plastic mirrors), so you do get some distortion. You'd get much better field of vision using a helmet-attached mirror or by attaching a larger rounded mirror to the handle bar--though with this set you'd have two mirrors.

Otherwise the construction seems sturdy enough that I would think the mirrors would survive minor collisions and falls when closed.

Summary: Cool design, poor execution
Comment: Even though they look pretty cool, these mirrors are hard to focus, and even harder to see anything in.
