THRESHOLD is a suspenseful drama about a team of experts who are assembled when the U.S. Navy makes a chilling discovery: an extra terrestrial craft has landed in the mid-Atlantic ocean. Dr. Molly Anne Caffrey (Carla Gugino) is a government contingency analyst whose job is to devise response plans for worst-case scenarios. In a single instant, her life changes when one of those plans--THRESHOLD--is activated by Deputy National Security Advisor J.T. Baylock (Charles S. Dutton). Armed only with her hypothetical strategy to address the appearance of aliens on earth, Caffrey now finds herself thrust in the midst of a global crisis. She hand-picks a team of eclectic specialists to prepare for first contact: Dr. Nigel Fenway (Brent Spiner), a disillusioned NASA microbiologist; Lucas Pegg (Rob Benedict), a brilliant but neurotic physicist; Arthur Ramsey (Peter Dinklage), an expert in languages and mathematics; and Cavennaugh (Brian Van Holt), a highly trained covert operative with a mysterious past. Together, they decipher the intention of the craft, the fate of the ship's crew and begin preparations for the possibility of a crisis situation--an alien invasion.

Customer Rating: Summary: Great SciFi Cut Just In It's Prime. Comment: This show could have been the next X-Files and CSI all rolled into one of the best conspiracy plots made. The cast had "chemistry", each had their own character development with great potential for more. Every episode "built" upon the overall plot and gave the show growth without being the "same old, same old" alien invasion of Earth. And when you find out the true reasoning of said invasion, it's a twist out of left field for sure. You begin to wonder if we can win this one this time...or even should we? The last four episodes were not aired during prime time showing but the Sci-Fi Channel did during the marathon runs during the weeks spread out. This is the kind of Sci-Fi that true-thinking fans like, not the usual creature of the week, etc. A lot of thought was put into the developement of this show and I am glad that the show was given the time to close out the plot (no matter the ending outcome) before the show plug was pulled. So many shows just leave you hanging unresolved when the networks pull the plug. This series will make an excellent addition to any SF, mystery fan. Don't miss this one if you've not seen it.
Customer Rating: Summary: On the Threshold Comment: "Threshold" was a fascinating series. For a brief time, it enjoyed its reign on CBS as a primetime drama following in the footsteps of the phenomenally successful X-Files. Like the X-Files,it had an alien invasion scenario. Carla Gugino channels Dana Scully as a skeptical investigator of paranormal events. She has former Data Brent Spiner on her side as well as the diminutive Peter Dinklage.
The series began with an alien craft crash-landing into the Atlantic. Some people nearby die, others develop superhuman abilities. Gugino and her team go to investigate. There are nightmarish, dreamlike scenes such as the "trees made of glass." Gugino is a talented actress; unfortunately,Threshold isn't the only prematurely cancelled show she's starred in.
"Threshold" ended before its time, with too many unresolved cliffhangers.
Customer Rating: Summary: Threshold: Alien Contacts Comment: Threshold is a series I saw parts of when it first aired. I liked it then and enjoyed it again while on vacation and viewing cable - sci-fi channel.
I obviously enjoyed the series enough to purchase the complete series.
The basic concepts are somewhat geeky but if you can get behind the various Star Trek series and Outer Limits and One Step Beyond, you will probably enjoy this short-lived series. Even incorporates some concepts from Invasion of the Body Snatchers and a couple other movies.
Overall, I think the series was too geeky to appeal to the general public, but those with some interest in the higher math and sciences will especially enjoy the challenges presented to the FX/Computer-Generated Graphics people and their vision of how these theoreticals would appear visualized.
Stars some well known actors/actresses that you will recognize: Carla Gugino, Charles S. Dutton, Brent Spiner, and Peter Dinklage.
If you are not sure about wanting to purchase the series, it has been shown on the Sci-Fi channel, and after viewing a few episodes, you can make an informed decision. That is how I became reacquainted with the series and purchased after I returned from vacation.
Hope you enjoy....

Customer Rating: Summary: The Emperor's word Comment: This was a good show but they could have done so much more. I did like the fact that the ETs where in a way helping us. But Still it was a little out there. Good lazy night show!
Customer Rating: Summary: 4 Extra Episodes Comment: I really loved this show when it ran. The commentary track is done for the pilot and its interesting to hear what they had in mind for following years that never played. It was great to see the 4 that never aired. I sincerly hope that they bring back this kind of sci-fi to TV.
