Editorial Reviews:

Bamboo oil penetrates bamboo surfaces and protects them against drying, splitting, and cracking. Unlike vegetable oil, it will never turn rancid. Apply to new bamboo products such as cutting boards once a day for one week before the first use. Then, oil once a week for one month, and once a month for one year or whenever the bamboo seems dry.
8 ounce/0.24 litre bottle.
May also be used for hardwoods such as maple, cherry, and walnut.

Summary: The Whats and Whys of Wood and Bamboo Oils
Comment: So called wood and "bamboo" oils are simply food grade mineral oils. You should use a wood oil in your kitchen instead of vegetable oil because mineral oil does not break down or become rancid. Wood oil gives sheen and water and stain resistance to wood items such as butcher block, cutting boards, pizza peels and wooden salad bowls. You can use wood oil to darken and restore the appearance of faded wooden knife handles or dried out wood cutting boards. This is a must have for any kitchen with wood items. If you buy any sort of wood gift this is a thoughtfull add on which will help your gift to both maintain its beauty and last longer. This product appears to be offered at the best price on Amazon. Snow River Wood Oil is an identical product at effectively the same price ($4.00). The Snow River oil has also been available as a 4 for 3 promotion.

Wood and bamboo oils are much less exotic than one might think. I actually use mineral oil laxative on my wood kitchen items ($2 for 16 oz. at many drug stores) which is the same thing. Clearly the laxative bottle is less than aesthetically pleasing and is embarassing to leave around the kitchen. My wife keeps hiding the bottle in fact. But No it won't have a laxative effect if you use it on your cutting boards or knife handles.

Summary: Works great!
Comment: I purchased the Bamboo wood oil the same time I bought my bamboo sushi board. It works great and will keep my sushi board looking new for years to come. Easy to apply and use. This 8oz size will last forever.
