The EyeTV Hybrid is the ideal solution for someone who wants both an analog and digital TV solution for the Mac in one small USB stick. With its classic matte aluminum finish and surprisingly small size for such a versatile product, the EyeTV Hybrid is a perfect complement to the Mac. It features a USB 2.0 interface for the streaming of superior quality, uncompressed TV content to your Mac. It is USB powered and therefore requires no external power supply, and contains a full-size coaxial plug. EyeTV Hybrid works with an Apple Remote. The EyeTV hardware delivers free over-the-air digital TV to your Mac via antenna, as well as analog TV via antenna and standard cable. EyeTV Hybrid also comes with a breakout cable for composite video and S-Video, enabling you to connect a set top box for premium channels, digital cable or satellite. Connect your game console and enjoy an excellent live play experience. EyeTV Hybrid's uncompressed analog video signals appear on the screen with zero latency. EyeTV Hybrid records digital TV in one quality setting, Lossless. The digital stream is recorded unaltered and so you're getting full quality digital content as encoded by the broadcaster. EyeTV supports multilingual programming and Dolby Digital sound. Analog TV can be recorded via EyeTV 2's software encoder, and the quality depends on the Mac's processor power. Find TV shows using the built-in program guide (USA only) Export clips and entire episodes to your video-capable iPod Connect game consoles and enjoy zero latency game play EyeTV Hybrid System Requirements - Macintosh with a PowerPC G4, G5 or Intel Core processor, 256 MB of physical RAM (512 MB recommended), a built-in USB 2.0 port, Mac OS X v10.4 or later, Internet connection required to download Program Guide data

Customer Rating: Summary: EyeTV Hybrid is Great Comment: I love products that just work out of the box.
My activation key was blurry but I figured that out .
This is just a great product. I don't record programs but watching TV on my iMac with EyeTV is great. I like the menu setup and program lineup list. The picture looks very good.
Setup was 5 minutes.
Good job Elgato.
Customer Rating: Summary: El-Gato EyeTV Hybrid + iMac & PowerBook G4 Comment: At first I hesitated buying it - I thought it would be blurry at full screen and not pick up as many channels. But I was pleasantly surprised! I tried it out on my powerbook first with an old rabbit ear antenna that I found laying around the house. I have no room to install a professional outdoor antenna and I am on a budget so I figured I would try this first. It picked up over 38 channels! Once I got my iMac - same thing - 38 channels! The antenna stands on the floor at a 45 degree angle toward the north east (I'm in chicago). I bought an amplified antenna - and it didn't find as many channels. The quality of the shows is amazing - It picks up all HD channels and analog channels that are available in your area. Even on full screen you can sit back and it looks better than on a regular tv. (That may also be contributed by the iMac video card...) It comes with a remote and it also updates a program guide to see what's coming up over the next few days! I have not tried it with a satellite or cable box - so I can't comment on that. But with an antenna, I am very pleased with my purchase. I would highly recommend it - especially to those who don't have a TV in their computer room. It's worth a try and it's a great product!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Digital transition is referring to BROADCAST!!!! Comment: Ok...to tell the truth I do not own this product, but I've studied it a lot. The ignorance of many reviewers is bugging me, in 2009 ALL BROADCAST (ANTENNA RECIEVED) channels will be dropped, not analog cable all-together, so this product will not be useless next year, it will be quite useful for the next 5yrs. or so.
Customer Rating: Summary: disappointed Comment: I am using the TV Hybrid on a Dual processor Power Mac with 4 gB of RAM and an Apple 17" LCD Studio display. The picture is somewhat blurred and/or stutters during action sequences such as basketball games. The sound is just slightly out of synch with the picture , as well, which is a bit annoying. I downloaded the latest EyeTV 3 software and now can no longer receive the over-the-air digital ASTC stations. Reverting to EyeTV 2.5.2 allows the stations to be received again. Support is available but only via email and takes several days to get a response which has, so far, not resolved my issues. At this point I would consider the TV Hybrid as an emergency back-up.
Customer Rating: Summary: Buyer Beware! Comment: This company has a sneaky upgrade policy, you must keep ALL of the original packaging to get software upgrades!!!!!
