This 3.5" enclosure is designed to use for any SATA or SATA II hard drive - even up to 500GB!Now you can connect any Serial ATA (SATA) or SATA II 3.5" hard drive to your computer through eSata. Customer Rating: Summary: Looks nice, but... Comment: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.
This product does not work when the drive is actually installed inside. When inside the drive presses against the sata cable, loosening the sata plug connection to the pcb board of the enclosure. This product will function properly if you attach the power and sata cables to the drive and leave it OUTSIDE the enclosure.
Otherwise, the enclosure itself is of decent quality. Installation directions are nearly nonexistant but it's easy to figure it out.
Customer Rating: Summary: Horrible Comment: What can I say, I can't even open the enclosure to test it! There's something rattling around inside!
It's not eSATA, it's External SATA, meaning it's no good with eSATA plugs like on TiVo or my Cosmos computer case. The tiny, blurry "manual" which is a single page folded in half doesn't describe how to open the case, so I can't even test it, not that I want to. The product page says it supports SATA II and over 500GB drives while the box says 500GB max and makes no mention of SATA II.
Flimsily made, packaging not worthy of CompUSA-branded products, and of course my personal inability to open the case, makes this one a big-time loser.
