Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent Value; OK sound Comment: The thing you'll be impressed most of all is the price; it also comes with a handy leather pouch and airline adaptor (only fits in certain aircaft though), and the volume control wheel on the headphones is very handy. It is also very comfortable to wear over extended periods; I wore this for most of an 8-hour flight without any discomfort worth mentioning.
I think that the noise cancellation works like a gem: the plane's engines (or indeed any ambient noise) were reduced to a distant hum, although sharp clacks and bangs do get through. Some audio artefacts are introduced, but overall I am extremely impressed by the HN700's noise cancelling ability. Amazingly, they are not too far off the pace from the Bose Quietcomfort 3 and Creative's X-Fi Headphones (in terms of noise cancellation), and the fact that these two models cost at least 5 times as much really says something about the HN700.
Where the HN700s noticeably lag behind is in the sound quality department. Clarity is distinctly inferior to the pricier headphones mentioned above, leaving a rather muffled sound. Neither are they a match for my Shure SE210s.
Nevertheless, the HN700's sound quality shortcomings are far outweighed by its comfort, features, noise cancellation, and fantastic value. You can't get a better pair of headphones for this price.
Customer Rating: Summary: What you expect for the price Comment: These earphones are not the best nor the worst and I am not unhappy by any means. They are exactly what I expected for $60. The bass is good not too much and not too little, but the clarity is a little off and the noise canceling is good for the office but maybe not for the plane.
For $60 bucks, buy them but don't be epecting to be getting Bose.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good product as a whole Comment: Good product as a whole. Noise abatement only for low frequencies. When you listen to music, high frequencies (treble) are poor.
Customer Rating: Summary: These headphones are pretty good... Comment: I've had several noise canceling headphones over the last two years. Initially I had the Bose Quietcomfort II series ones which were of course 'great'. I sold those (since I needed money) and replaced them with the Logitech canceling ones. They were actually really good and comparable to the Bose's but much less expensive. I can't really recommend them though since they broke after 2 months (no sound in one cup). So that brings me to this set. These work fine and have a decent sound, but the noise cancellation feature is the worst of the batch. They are also not as comfortable as the other two. Battery life is good. I'd say you get about 24 hours out of the 2 AAAs it takes. One thing that has happened after about 2 months of use is the folding feature at the top of the headpiece no longer locks properly (it's loose, but still functional).
Final verdict: I'd go back to the ones from Logitech if I had some assurance that they would work more than 2 months... Hope this has helped.
Customer Rating: Summary: Meets all my expectations... Comment: I must admit right off that this is the first pair of noise-canceling headphones that I have owned. They seem to do the job quite well so far (after 3 weeks) and the fact that they fold for easier storage is a big plus in my book.
I would not hesitate to recommend these headphones.
The only minor nit might be that you have to move the volume control fairly high to get proper volume level. They can also get a little warm after extended wearing, but I think most "over-ear" type headphones would do that also.
The noise-canceling feature makes my airline travel a much more enjoyable experience. I am very happy I made this purchase.
