Summary: stop complaining about the powercord.
Comment: it would be nice if this had a powercord, but it doesnt. cope. ideally, one would have another power cord (available separately, or from a reliable HP alternative) to keep in your laptop bag when you left your desk, but not everyone needs one, and you can get those elsewhere. this marketing concept is called divisibility.

aside from that, this is an excellent piece of hardware. I might be wrong, but it seems as if my dv9000t runs cooler since i started running everything through my quickdoc. for most of the last year i have had...

the laptop power cord
2 external hard drives, both [USB2.0]
a wireless mouse charge cord [USB2.0]
a wireless mouse receiver [USB2.0]
a high resolution webcam / microphone [USB2.0]
1 VGA monitor cord
1 audio out (headphone)
1 LAN cord

all attached without any problem. it makes my desk much more sleek and accessible.

Summary: Love it!
Comment: Very convenient! I have a TX1220US, a tablet (with a passive digitizer, but that's academic). I modified a LCD screen stand a while back to hold my tablet as if it were just an LCD. I occasionally stream movies through my laptop as well. This dock made things wonderfully simple, one cable connection and I'm off of the wi-fi network, on the LAN, connected to my entertainment center, keyboard and mouse at the ready.

Summary: HP Quickdock
Comment: Does what is advertised, the only two drawbacks I have is that is doesn't come with a power adapter, & that it doesn't have a digital video out.

Summary: Helpful and works, but missing a couple things
Comment: I previously had a desktop with half a dozen things plugged into it before I bought my HP dv2500 laptop. Going from 2 usb plugs to 8 with my laptop is very handy - the dock helps a lot for keeping all those things (external hard drive, logitech wireless mouse/ keyboard, ipod, sansa, ipaq or dell pda, audio output) plugged in and not having to change it whenever you take your laptop away.
Question on people's problem of things not working, does it work with your laptop and just not the dock? The only thing I've had to do is update drivers on my laptop, and have had no problem connecting USB devices.

I do agree with EVERYBODY that HP should have included an AC adaptor with it. But for me, the few times I do need the adaptor, its simple enough to unplug it and take with me (I rearranged all my cords/desk/location so I could do this). My guess is it would raise the price by at least $60-75 to add another adaptor.

One gripe I have, not mentioned by others, is that there is no digital output from the dock, only analog (VGA, S-Video, Component video) to an external monitor.

Summary: HP quick Doc
Comment: The quick doc comes with absolutely no instructions. And, HP doesn't have any on their on-line technical manuals. Yes, the complaints you have heard about the product are true, you need to use the charger provided with your Notebook/laptop, there isn't one built into the Quickdoc.

The thing I really hate is the fact that I cannot close the cover to my Notebook or the remote monitor and Notebook shut down. I have been trying to resolve this with HP product support but some instructions to begin with would have helped.

Once I get this screen thing figured out and I can set my monitor on the notebook I guess it will be an Ok product. Not great, but Ok.
