Customer Rating: Summary: Great Device Comment: I've been using this for over a year and have never had any problem with it. It always works great every time. It doesn't come w/ a power cord, but I had two, so it didn't affect me. The dock has been plugged in and running since September '07 without issue.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nice Product Comment: Purchased this docking station for an HP dv9817cl laptop. Unit came within 2 days of ordering. I just installed the unit on Christmas day on my wife's laptop. Installation was easy and the unit works very well. My system has the correct connector to attach the unit so I am able to close my laptop and work with an attached keyboard, mouse and display and use the unit as a desktop unit. This was a great value and I would recommend this product to others.
Customer Rating: Summary: Mostly great product Comment: The dock is a great idea and it does what it what is suppose to; however, in my situation I need a longer cord from the dock to the laptop and I can't seem to find one. The product ends up being less useful to me because of that. At the very least there should be an accessory that can be purchased that will extend the cable's length. If you don't have that problem you will probably like this product a lot.
Customer Rating: Summary: HP Quickdoc Comment: The HP Quickdoc is a very nice docking station and helps a lot when using with a laptop. Although, beware, the power plug of a HP Pavilion dv7-1135nr will not work with this docking station. Something they left out of the product description. I had to purchase a new power cord to match the product power receptical. Good product, good price, fast delivery.
Customer Rating: Summary: Worthwhile if purchased for $40 or less Comment: I purchased this item after performing a lot of research. I read the reviews both here and elsewhere, and decided that for $40, this product was worth purchasing.
I noticed many people said that a power supply does not come with the Quickdoc. That's true, but what people failed to mention is that in most cases your HP power supply will NOT fit into the power supply plug in the Quickdoc. I still haven't been able to determine which power supply WILL fit into the connector, but the one included with your laptop will NOT. This is important to note because it means that when you dock your laptop, even if you have an additional power supply, you will need to plug in two separate connections. First, the Quickdoc connection, then you'll have to plug in the power supply. So, it's kind of a pain. I'd rather just set my laptop down and plug in one cord, but now it's two cords you've got to plug in. That reduces the convenience and effectiveness of the Quickdoc!
That aside, everything else seems ok. I read some comments about people saying that plugging in the Quickdoc cable is difficult b/c the cord will not contort itself into certain positions. That's not true. The cord will twist and bend in any way you need to plug into the laptop. The Quickdoc does tend to lift up from the desk when pulling on the cord at certain angles, but overall it's not a problem, so don't worry about it.
For $40 I'm glad I purchased the Quickdoc, but I wish I knew which power supply I needed to buy to plug into it. Some documentation from HP would really be nice.
