Summary: Another guitar mag for the pile
Comment: Like many magazines before it, Guitar Edge makes promises they can't keep. I currently subscribe, but will not renew. Most of the transcriptions are in micro-print. Probably, to save money on printing costs, but trying to read while playing is somewhat futile. Unless of course, you're blessed with spectacular vision. The instructional articles promise you can hear them online, but the files are nowhere to be found. If they allowed subscribers to access current tunes(In PDF)and sound files, I would find this magazine more useful. That way, you could print out larger pages for yourself, and edit out the parts you find unesscessary. The songs represented are geared mainly towards electric guitar. I find this odd, considering how many acoustic guitars are sold in this country every year.

Summary: Cool new mag
Comment: Just like on the cover there's "less talk, more tab". This magazine is very different than the other mainstream guitar magazines. There are about 20-30 pages in the begining of a few VERY GOOD short articles dealing with achieving certain tones, artist interviews, gear, etc. There are 12 songs transcribed in each issue. The editors try to pick a wide variety of songs so that there is something for everybody. If you play/like a wide range of music, chances are you will find many songs in each issue that you'll like. For example, you might find some Bob Dylan, Pearl Jam, Coldplay, The Who, Metallica, The Cure, B.B King, and 311 in the same issue. This magazine gets a 4/5 from me because it comes out only 6 times per year (at the cost of a 12 issues/year mag). If this magazine came out 12 times a year I would easily give it a 5/5 but I guess buying the printing rights to the songs are expensive, but you'd think they would save money by having less original content. Hopefully they will get more subscribers so they can make more money from advertising and make it a 12 issues/year mag. All-in-all this is a great magazine though. I was at a news stand trying to buy the latest issue of Guitar World Acoustic but it wasn't out yet but I saw this mag and was pleasantly suprised so I bought it and later on that night subscibed to in online. I don't see how anybody who plays guitar would be dissapointed with this mag.
