Summary: No Complaints - satisfied customer!
Comment: What I really like about this product is the power supply that comes with it. The reason for this purchase is due to the fact that my laptop is dying a slow death, starting with the sound card and then the USB ports.
I quickly purchased this and plugged it in. No luck. The laptop wasn't giving the HD enough power, so I just plugged in the power supply to the HD - voila!

Summary: Nice Compact Hard Drive!
Comment: If you need a small external hard drive for your laptop that doesn't need external power, look no further. It seemed to take a bit long to back up my entire laptop, but that may be because of the rpm's of this drive. I had previously backed it up to a MyBook and the process went faster.
But, what you lose in speed you make up in portability.

Summary: Great little hard drive
Comment: I researched pretty obsessively before I bought this hard drive. I don't use it frequently, but I think it works wonderfully well. I bought it to back up my iBook G4 hard drive, and here are my observations:
It's small. It's quiet. It doesn't get hot. It is easy to set up... just plug in to firewire and turn it on, and there it is on the desktop. It's pretty (I don't mind having it on my desk). And it's very portable should I need to pop it into my briefcase and go. While it runs 100% off of my firewire power supply, it also has a place to plug in power, should you choose to buy a power adapter (go to Radio Shack or something?) to take the burden off of your computer's power supply.
Like I mentioned, I shopped around obsessively, and decided on this one. I am very very happy with it.

Comment: Very versatile peripheral; ideal for back-up or in my case great for transferring large blocks of data to & from different computers. With so many of todays input devices wanting a USB 2.0 port, this handy, dandy device with the option of Fire-Wire 400 frees up valuable USB ports. To protect your investment I recommend the Caselogic PHDC-1 Small EVA External Hard Drive Case for those moving the drive around & about.
