Customer Rating: Summary: Sony AX4000A Home Remote Comment: For sure you have to read the manual to understand how to program the remote unit. Make use of the setup CD to program your remote can prove easier via PC than manually learn the code from remote controllers. With PC setup, you can maximise the use of program xpress and airslide function.
The setup CD software able to store/backup the setting in case you lose the setting when changing battery.
Not recommended for consumer that prefer a off-the-shelf gadget and use it right-away.
Customer Rating: Summary: how to spend your money on junk Comment: I find the remote almost totally useless for my modern tv setup, (even if all the other units are sony. It is supposed to be touch screen,(it would take a hammer to fufil that designation. I have purchased a Harmony remote which is completely functional for all needs. the sony unit isin the corner gathering dust.
Customer Rating: Summary: Works Real Good with Sony Electronics Comment: the only problems i have with this remote are that it does not work with my sony cdr/cd player recorder, deck A plays cd's and the remote works with that deck, but deck B records cd's and the remote will not work with it. also this remote has no drivers or upgrade support for windows vista when you try to program the remote. thank goodness for my old pc that still uses windows xp. all in all im happy with my purchase.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good product IF You have all Sony component Comment: I have all Sony product except an Onkyo receiver and Hd cable box. I used the op-pc and no luck. Tried manual and only get part of the controls. Logitech Harmony has a better remote however the battery life is so short.
Customer Rating: Summary: GREAT REMOTE WITH PATIENCE Comment: After reading all the reviews I finaly purchased the remote. The only flexible way to program the unit [as stated by many others] is through the Advanced computer USB Sync mode. Once you get over the hurdle of the first Advance programing of your various remotes the Sony remote will have to be updated for your paticular system set up. This is where the unit SHINES. You can amend your Advanced setups very quickly once you truly understand your systems needs. There is no way anyone would be able to set up the Sony AX 4000A and get all of your individual parameters figured out the first time. All my AV gear is from different manfactures, Projector, TV, Receiver, Cable Box, and a DVD Player. My kids use to laugh at me when I would line up the 6 remotes, eye glasses and flashlight to enjoy a movie. 6th remote is for a Hunter fan/light which does not use IR technology. Now I use the Sony Remote and the Hunter Fan/Light remote, no eye glasses the lighted screen is Great. Yes the first time to set up the remote can be very overwhellming but like any modern day computer based device given time you can become very proficient at it's use. I hope it works well for you maybe not the first time you set it up but maybe by the 4th or 5th time you will have this baby dialed in. Best of Luck
