Customer Rating: Summary: esata / usb 2 Comment: Now have 4 of these, one arrived doa, swapped out by amazon quickly. Have 2 in esata ports, 1 off mb 2 off pcie card, all work fine, fast transfer rates. 1 off usb 2.0, and can you tell the difference in speed. Also attached to esata port on cable box dvr to record, works great on all esata that I tried. The design of the power attachment is less than desirable, you have to bend it in between its attachment to the mini board and the external esata port to seat the hard drive properly, hence the reason for the 4 of 5. Will buy more...
Customer Rating: Summary: My experience is very good with this enclosure Comment: I bought this enclosure to fit a 750GB hard drive, and I am pleased. I read a few reviews of this product before purchasing.
The unit is easy to set up. Windows XP recognized the drive immediately. Although the fan runs continually (a 750GB puts out some heat), the fan is quiet enough not to disturb someone in a quiet room. Sort of like the quiet hum inside a network room. I probably would not want to sleep with it running, however.
The manufacturer includes an eSATA card and eSATA cable (different than the SATA cable within the enclosure) so you can plug this enclosure into a computer through eSATA or USB. I give them high marks for including that.
There is one issue with installation and design, but this issue would not stop me from buying again. The internal power connection between the enclosure and the drive is very tight and needs to be forced a little. It seems to me that a few extra millimeters in design could have avoided this problem. Drive enclosures are always too tight, which is annoying but prevents movement while operating. However, in this case, I don't think it was necessary.
Customer Rating: Summary: Incompatible With Vista 32 Comment: Installed per manufactures specifications. Pluggled into a Vista 32 machine running Core2 Quad processor 4GB DDR2 dual channel. Imediately began getting blue screens. Went to munufacturers webisight looking for a Visata driver found no support of an technical nature. I will never buy another.
