Customer Rating: Summary: Easy to install, sturdy, and great customer service Comment: I was looking for an inexpensive two-bike rack that would fit both a Saturn sedan and a VW Beetle. While this item was initially appealing, I wasn't sure if it would work for both, very different vehicles. I first checked the Allen Website, which lists all of their products and which vehicles they fit. However, my Saturn wasn't listed. I emailed the company and they responded quickly with their recommendation. So, 5 stars for Allen customer service! And 5 stars for the bike rack! It is super easy to install and folds up nicely to fit in the trunk. Both bikes fit snugly and securely on the rack. You will drive with confidence knowing your bikes are secured with this product. Highly recommended!
Customer Rating: Summary: Very sturdy even in an alternate strap configuration Comment: I have a 2001 Camry, and wasn't able to attach the lower straps below the bumper (as the picture shows). Even with them attached to the trunk, it is very stable. I have no worries attaching my $$$ tri bike and traveling at highway speeds. And as a bonus, I can access the trunk now.
Very simple to assemble; once straps are initially set, it's literally a matter of seconds to remove or reattach.
Customer Rating: Summary: Allen 102S Bike Rack Comment: Delivered on time as promised and in perfect condition. Extremely easy to install on my 99 Accord. Good sturdy unit with excellent design, handled my one bicycle well on a 200 mile trip. Caution, clean grit and dust off the trunk lid before mounting the rack to prevent marring of the paint and secure wheels to prevent damage to vehicle during travel. Also, make sure pedal is not in position to damage trunk lid or bumper. Very pleased with this purchase.
Customer Rating: Summary: Worked out like a champ Comment: I commute almost 50 miles each way to work and nearby is a really neat bike trail so I wanted to get a simple bike rack so I could ride during my lunch hours and after work and after reading the reviews for Allen 102-S and not really wanting to spend over $100, I decided to give it a try and I can honestly say that I have no regrets. I was a little nervous at first beacuse my commute is almost entirely on the freeway and we drive like maniacs out here in SF, but it secured my 26 inch frame mountain bike as well as my 22 inch frame freestyle bike with no problems. I like to use a bungee cord with it for piece of mind, but that is just me. All in all, it's a solid bike rack, in-expensive, easy to install and it won't scratch your paint.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good for light use Comment: This is the first trunk-mount bicycle rack I've ever owned, so I don't have anything else to compare it to, but it seems mostly stable. I can see the bikes shifting around a bit as I drive, and I think it would be a little better if it had a couple more straps going to the sides of the trunk. I bought it for infrequent, short (less than 1 hour) trips. I think if I were planning to use it more often I would try and get something more stable (like install a hitch and get a hitch-mounted rack) No problems fitting it on my '07 Scion tC (no spoiler, but either of the factory spoilers would probably be OK too) My 15" Trek 7.3FX is a bit of a tight fit on the rack, but they also give you the option of rotating the securing strap to the side to wrap it around the vertical part of the bike frame/seat post.
