Customer Rating: Summary: A good stick for a beginner Comment: I got this stick last year, and successfully used it for my first season. The head is stiff enough to allow good checks and the shaft is very lightweight. I was able to throw well, and overall this is a good stick for a young lacrosse player. The only possible con is the Trakker pocket. The pocket is one piece, which makes it easy to adjust and doesn't loosen like a leather pocket might. However, because it is one piece you can't customize it and it wil not conform to the ball very well. Even after hours of playing time. I have now upgraded to the deBeer Apex, and love it. The main difference is the lower sidewalls and off-set head, which allow for a deeper pocket. (For more on off-set, read my review of the Apex) Considering everything, I think a beginner would do fine with this stick. You might also consider the Response from deBeer or the Vibe from Brine. You could also try a stick with a traditional (leather) pocket from STX like the Racy or Comet. The only downside is the traditional pockets in these stick may require some break-in time. All these sticks can be purchased for less that $50.
